I can see where diners would be annoyed with the family atmosphere. It's got a definite quiet more romantic vibe then every table has a child full of energy trying to make it through dinner with their family. The lamb meatballs were good. Sauce was amazing. My burrata ravioli special was great. The half chicken was cooked perfect. The butternut squash side was amazing. I'm a fan. View all feedback.
What Addy C doesn't like about Browns:
The great thing about this spot is the view of the Thames River from their upstairs deck. The restaurant is always packed. Service is friendly. But the food is just mediocre and not impressive esp. for the price. Ordered the Mushroom Tagliatelle £12.50) very bland and boring ... I actually had to add salt n pepper. Mrs. G and I are fans of Browns restaurants, but we've noticed that different locations in a large chain can vary quite a bit. Unfortunately, this was the case with Browns in Windsor. We had just picked up two visitors from the U.S. at Heathrow and wanted to show them Windsor Castle before heading home, so we decided to dine at Browns. Our local branch in Nottingham never lets us down, but Browns Windsor did not live up to those standards. The service was acceptable but fell short of what we expect from the brand, and the ambiance was rather lackluster—certainly disappointing given the beautiful, cosmopolitan surroundings. Parking in Windsor can be tricky, but if you look around, you might find a spot; just be sure to have some £1 coins on hand, or you may be out of luck! Would we return? Unfortunately, no—there are far better dining options closer to the castle. Review #48 2023.
My friends took me to this restaurant after a stroll around Windsor, and it was perfect for a relaxing lunch. There was a bit of confusion about whether we could sit in the bar area and whether we needed to order at the bar or if table service was available. However, our waitress was wonderful and very attentive. The scallop starter was excellent, and the lamb shepherd's pie was just as delightful. The pineapple dessert with coconut ice cream was absolutely delicious!
A truly quintessential British experience. Just a short stroll from Windsor Palace and nestled along the serene Thames, this restaurant features a menu filled with classic staple dishes you'd anticipate. Honestly, with a location like this, even a bowl of cereal would seem appropriate. I've tasted some of the best fish and chips and meat pies here that I've found in the country. While English cuisine may not be internationally renowned for its flavor or innovation, it embraces you like a cozy blanket, and this delightful setting is as picturesque and charming as you would expect.

My colleague enjoyed her Chicken Avocado Salad though. We also shared the Peach Melba dessert £6.95) canned peaches, meringue and vanilla ice cream ... very disappointing. I'd probably recommend this spot more for drinks than for the food. No lunch specials, and they have breakfast/brunch until 12pm on weekends.
My wife and I stopped in here for breakfast on a Friday morning before heading to Windsor Castle. I noticed that there are quite a few subpar reviews of the Browns, but they look to be from several years ago, so I thought I'd give an updated review. Our experience was top notch! When you enter, you're greeted with lightly playing jazz piano in the background. There is great lighting, patio seating, and plenty of tables for even a busy morning. My wife ordered the smashed Avocado Toast with eggs and I ordered the traditional English breakfast....the best breakfast we've had in the UK so far- the sausage and bacon was somewhat smoked and not at all too salty. The breakfast was also very reasonably priced, about £20 for two with coffee's. Considering that an average hotel breakfast is about £12, this is a much better alternative! I'd give the service just a 4/5 though as they are a bit slow to bring the bill after they've cleared the table. To be fair though, that's not abnormal in the UK. Atmosphere- 5/5 Value- 5/5 Flavor- 5/5 Service- 4/5
