I heard Dexters is closed. If you had been planning to go there, make sure to call first to check if it has reopened.
This place used to be a great mix of many different menu options, but they changed their menu entirely, pulling my favorite items. This wasn't my first time there and I had really liked it but this time was just okay. When we arrived there was only one table of people in the entire restaurant, and there were no hosts or waiters to be seen. We waited at the front for over five minutes without anyone coming to the front and right when we were about to leave we were seated. With the menu change, I was really disappointed and would've left if it weren't for the $1 burgers on Tuesdays option. In addition to the burger, I got the fish sliders. The fish sliders were absolutely amazing and worth visiting just for the appetizer alone. The burger was just okay but for $1, you can't expect too much. Our waiter was very nice and accommodating considering it was his first week on the job. It's a good spot if you're looking for a cheap sit down dinner but not much else. The fish sliders were amazing though and I can taste them just thinking about them!
What in the world just happened? I'm sitting here on a Thursday night at 6 PM, and I'm the only person in the entire restaurant and bar. The place was sold eight months ago, and there's no clear concept; it looks as if the bar has been stripped bare. No one seems to know how to make a Mojito, which isn’t the biggest issue, but it certainly reflects how far they’ve declined. I predict that the company that owns this establishment will either flip it quickly or go out of business in a matter of days rather than months. I would be happy to discuss with them a path to recovery, but unless they have an aggressive plan to invest in creating a great local venue in the most desirable area of Orlando, they’re in serious trouble.
I waited 30 minutes just to receive a glass of water! After finally managing to place my order, I had to wait another 30 minutes, only for my food to arrive and be completely incorrect. Not only was my order wrong, but the food also didn’t resemble what was advertised. To top it off, the presentation looked like it was done by a kindergartner—no offense to kindergartners!
I don 't usually write reviews but with this being our usual go-to spot, I couldn 't help be to be more than extremely disappointed on this last visit. We 've been to Dexter 's (not just this one but all of them) more times than I can count and today was the last. Upon walking in you could immediately tell something was off. This place used to be packed at brunch time but we walked in at 12:45 and there was maybe 4-5 tables with 4 people or less at each and no one at the hostess stand. After waiting about 5 mins someone finally greeted us and we were told that we could be seated but it would be at least 15 minutes before someone could help us. We decided to wait it out since our usual experiences were great but that should have been our first warning to run. After about 17 mins we placed our food and drink order. We went with unlimited mimosas since those are usually the same price as 2 and we can usually do 3 during brunch. The mimosas were awful. All juice and so sweet it was almost sickening. We didn 't even have enough to pay for the unlimited , they were that bad. The last one didn 't even have bubbles in it and they weren 't even filled to the top of the champagne flute. I ordered a BLT which was supposed to come with mayo... no mayo, 4 slices of bacon and maybe slightly toasted bread, I ate less than half of it. The au jus for the French dip was literally clear with some seasoning at the bottom, it tasted more like seasoned water. Our waiter was super nice and very apologetic for everything but it just couldn 't make up for all the negative. I now know why this place which used to be packed for Sunday brunch, was deserted today.
