The menu was extensive and the food was really excellent.

Having visited for the first time a couple of weeks ago, we decided to give it another go and weren’t disappointed, the food was just as good and thankfully war... read more Having visited for the first time a couple of weeks ago, we decided to give it another go and weren’t disappointed, the food was just as good and thankfully warmer than the first time we visited, not as hot as we would have liked but still a big improvement. Alice, our server went out of her way to accommodate our requests for a couple of changes on the menu, we both had roast chicken, the portions of which are very generous. We ordered a couple of sides but wouldn’t make that mistake again as the dinner served was more than enough and despite being extremely busy Alice was always smiley and nothing was too much trouble.

We were kicked off our table so they could give it to someone else. We weren't told we only had a certain time, a member of staff said to us that we had five minutes to leave our table. We had intended to purchase puddings and more drinks but were told to move from our table. We were sat at our table at 13:00 and told to leave at 14:25. We moved to the bar to have more drinks but were told all the tables were for food. Seems to me that the Old Forge are all about money and not Old fashions customer care. Shame as we will never go back. Short sighted on their part as we were prepared to buy drinks all afternoon. And the pub industry wonder why they are struggling. Good buy The Old Forge hope it goes well with your money grabbing ways.

We have visited the old forge on a few occasions now and have never been disappointed. We are usually a group of at least 8 people, so quite a few to deal with.... read more We have visited the old forge on a few occasions now and have never been disappointed. We are usually a group of at least 8 people, so quite a few to deal with. Our last visit was 18th November. The welcoming atmosphere in this pub is fantastic with a log fire burning away. We were served by Rosie who was amazing, with her sense of humour , excellent service and a few stories. Nothing was too much trouble for her and even played a joke on my vegan fiancee. The food is first class with a varied interesting menu with plenty of vegan and vegetarian options. They will even try and adjust things if there is something you can't eat . The old forge at otterbourne is more than worth a visit, and if you're lucky enough to have Rosie serve you, you'll definitely have a good time. As her about the anteater!
