Jj Bistro - Wheaton
Jj Bistro
Description
A neighborhood bistro offers a mix of wins and misses: fresh, flavorful sushi, ramen and a notably good Thai green iced tea draw repeat customers, and lunch specials can be good value. Service and takeout are hit-or-miss—orders have sometimes been late, incomplete, or arrive with inconsistent freshness—and prices skew higher than nearby sushi houses. Friendly staff and occasional thoughtful extras (free egg rolls, cheerful packaging) help balance uneven execution, making it a spot worth trying with cautious expectations.

I got the shrimp tempura udon, through grubhub, and it was bad. For some reason it tasted like I was eating soap. There's little to no garnish, the broth has no taste and isn't complimentary to the shrimp tempura. I remade the broth over the stove and added Hondashi, fish flakes, an egg, and green onion. Looking at the dish, it doesn't seem like they care.
Excellent sushi (Angel Wings, Gary roll, Boston and Alaska) and I was so surprised to receive a free order of Spring rolls. Thank you!
We ordered 12 rolls, Pad Thai and some appetizers. Prices are higher compared to other, local sushi houses: at least $2.00 per roll. But, the food is certainly no better and the customer service here is wanting. My order wasn't ready until at least 30 minutes after the restaurant's established pick- up time. No apologies. I was told they were busy. In the 30 minutes I was in the parking lot, only two people arrived to pick- up an order. My order was also incomplete. The food itself was un-rema … – show
Our go to takeout Sushi place. High quality fish, great tasting rolls, good variety and it won't break your wallet.
We’ve ordered from here a couple of times and there’s usually one thing we might like but overall there’s always something off. A couple of times the sushi I ordered has tasted off. Almost as if it’s gone bad. The Mongolian beef is nice, but we got the green curry ramen and the green curry was very thin. It wouldn’t even stick to or coat the noodles. The best thing I’ve gotten here is the Thai green iced tea that I would definitely come back here for. Otherwise I would probably pass.
