Daisy McBean's - Westerose
Daisy McBean's
Description
Tucked into a small, kitschy space popular with locals and travelers, this café serves standout breakfasts, loaded omelettes, sandwiches, soups, excellent coffee and Alberta-made ice cream and shakes. Nostalgic sweets delight, though multi-scoop ice cream can be pricey. The shop bustles and is family-friendly; young staff are often pleasant, but service quality is inconsistent and an abrasive front-of-house presence has soured some visits. Expect cozy charm and great food—arrive early or be patient during peak times.

A fantastic spot for breakfast! They offer simple yet delicious dishes, ranging from omelettes to porridge and everything else in between. In my opinion, they serve the best coffee between Calgary and Edmonton. The Highland Grog is absolutely amazing. They also have a wonderful selection of sweets that takes me back to my childhood in the 60s. Every time I visit, this is my go-to place to eat!
It's a decent spot for ice cream cones. If you order a junior cone, they even put a jelly bean at the bottom! Be prepared for long lines, though. The interior can get quite warm and feels a bit cramped. They also serve sandwiches and beverages, but it's not a licensed establishment. I was served by some young staff today, and thankfully there was no grouchy lady around! LOL. They do offer outdoor seating, which is nice.
Have a cabin near by, thought I would take the family for a treat and support the near by businesses. We went in and it was close to closing time and staff was not happy that we had showed up, service was not great. The ice cream was great found out it's Alberta made, a bit expensive as 4 single scoops cost over $20 dollars. Have gone there 3 more times at different times of the day and the service has not gotten better. Have been served by one of the owners and the other times young staff. I think that this place would be a hit as it reminds me of restaurants that the hallmarks movies film in. They serve breakfast and lunch they also have pies and they look great I have not tried them though. I think this place would be a hit if the service was better. I have read other reviews about this place and they are not different then mine.
Chef N generously donated a delicious hot lunch to Winfield School, and the kids absolutely loved it! Thank you for supporting our community!
