This café is quite small, but the food is fantastic. Just keep in mind that it only has two tables. I tried the Mediterranean tart, which was delicious, especially when paired with the accompanying salad. The baked goods were particularly noteworthy. My partner tried the sausage roll but didn’t find it to his liking; it was a bit messy, but everyone has their own taste preferences. There’s a nice selection of food av... View all feedback.
What westcountrybird dislikes about Mooplehog:
Visited Mooplehog en route from Cornwall to Somerset hoping to have some breakfast. Unfortunately the electricity had broken so was forced to have cake instead. Oh the hardship........Lovely friendly staff super welcoming to well behaved doggos too. Cafe is entirely vegan which is a welcome thing to see. The majority of their ingredients are sourced locally too. Hope to visit again try some more delicious (hot) food... View all feedback.

We visited mooplehog today and came away with some tasty homemade vegan pizza and some vegan chocolate cake. You would never know that unfortunately they are suffering some electrical problems that should be sorted by the end of next week. The owner is still open but has a limited hot menu. There are lots of hot and cold drinks available including a delicious orange juice, arrowroot and ginger and black pepper drink. Lots of cakes and three different soups today including beetroot and kale yum. The owner is lovely and has only been open since September, her warm character is reflected in the homely decor and she sells vegan cream too! Let's support our small traders and go visit mooplehog today.
I went twice in one week!I had olive, pepper and chilli cheese pizza then spicy bean and cheese topped jacket potato! Followed by first vanilla butter cream cake then chocolate orange cake. Delicious and a totally vegan! What an utter hidden gem.Despite suffering an electrical fault and consequently having minimal options this week, we were delighted to visit this welcoming cafe! The available options did not disappoint and they will be fully up and running in a week thank goodness as I will be back very soon! The owner is passionate friendly and caring and made our experience even better. See you soon mooplehog!
We read about this little cafe on FB and decided to pop in. We were not disappointed friendly, helpful staff and interesting menu. Will definitely visit again and, as they're dog friendly, take our 4 legged friend as well!!!
Having grown up close to Okehampton I was so happy and excited to find Mooplehog when visiting family recently! It really is a little hidden gem and perfect whether you're vegan or not. Being vegan myself it was so refreshing to be in a cafe and not have to worry about what I can or cannot order, the menu choices were amazing with lots of coffee's, homemade cakes, soups and main meals, everything is cooked fresh too. The cakes are some of the best homemade bakes I've had (even before I went vegan! , so good we even went back the next day for more takeout slices to take on our walk! I highly recommend the carrot cake and blueberry lemon cake! We received a very warm welcome with lots of chats about vegan cooking and baking which was lovely. Looking forward to the next trip to sample the main meals soon! This is a must stop for any Dartmoor visitor.
I visited Mooplehog with a friend who is vegan, but I left convinced that it is the best place for food lovers in Okehampton. The prices are very reasonable, with main courses costing £8-£9, and the dishes were not only delicious but also beautifully presented in colorful bowls with unique patterns. The small interior has seating for 12 people at 3 tables for 4, with interesting and stylish decorations throughout. The service is casual and friendly. The menu is displayed on handwritten flash cards that you can sort through to make your choice, making it easier for the owners to update the menu. Everything is freshly made and tasted delicious. I will definitely be returning to Mooplehog.

We stopped by during our road trip through the southeast and received a warm welcome. Everyone was very kind, and the food was delicious.
Yesterday we ate in Mooplehog in Oakhampton. [hidden link] For main we had paninis and salad one was with lemon preserve and one with coriander and chilli. Desserts were two amazing raw cakes; chocolate/walnut and carrot. I also had a really thick hot apple drink with cinnamon. It was good food with the mains cooked to order. The premises is transitioning from a gifte shop to a vegan cafe and there are still some gift things around. There is a bookshelf with several vegan cookbooks to look at whilst eating/drinking. It, especially, makes an ideal stopover when on a journey to/from Cornwall and the north! Mooplehog also has a monthly vegan dinner night to look out for. Dog friendly as well!
Vegan cafe, small but well stocked and the food was very well presented and delicious. The best salad which even had a stuffed carrot and a very tasty sausage roll. Would highly recommend and the host was lovely and made us feel very welcome.
This café is very small, but the food packs a blow. There are only 2 tables. I had the Mediterranean tar, which was delicious together with the salad dressing. Especially remarkable was the pastry. My husband didn't find his sausage roll personally, it's pretty dirty, but everyone has their own personal taste. There is a nice selection of food to buy. Next time I would have the sourdough I saw someone look delish.
This place has just changed into a vegan cafe (from quirky gift shop). I can recommend the falafels and salad, the raw caramel cheesecake , the chocolate cake, hot chocolate.... well, everything I reckon! Rebecca and Shane who run this little cafe can tell you all about their journey into providing innovative food with carefully sourced ingredients. I always love finding a cafe where I can choose anything on the menu without asking what 's in it and plenty of desserts to choose from!

Excellent eating, excellent coffee and a huge selection of tea and beautiful cakes. it is 100% vegan, but you would never know if you didn't ask. perhaps also the most friendly place in okehampton. I see you there!
This woman creates the most delicious combination of aromen. it is an excellent caffe, friendly and fun. there is a lot of hearty to satisfy, and oh, my cakes and tar are mouthwater. I would recommend a visit even if it requires a distraction to do it.
Loved the porridge, set me up for a long day of cycling, all the cakes and things looked fantastic and I was sorry I didn't get to try them. I was impressed that her oat milk was home made as well
Tasty selection at home cooked lunch and cake. good selection of tees and coffee. very friendly relaxed atmosphere and best of all, totally vegan.
Visited 5 weeks into their food adventure. Nicely decorated, comfy seats and very friendly staff. All the food was great although I thought the Caribbean Curry wrap was rather over selling itself with a thin slice of pineapple and red pepper. I'm not vegan but I'd have no issue with going back for more. Lots of happy customers in there.
