This café is quite small, but the food is fantastic. Just keep in mind that it only has two tables. I tried the Mediterranean tart, which was delicious, especially when paired with the accompanying salad. The baked goods were particularly noteworthy. My partner tried the sausage roll but didn’t find it to his liking; it was a bit messy, but everyone has their own taste preferences. There’s a nice selection of food av... View all feedback.
What westcountrybird dislikes about Mooplehog:
Visited Mooplehog en route from Cornwall to Somerset hoping to have some breakfast. Unfortunately the electricity had broken so was forced to have cake instead. Oh the hardship........Lovely friendly staff super welcoming to well behaved doggos too. Cafe is entirely vegan which is a welcome thing to see. The majority of their ingredients are sourced locally too. Hope to visit again try some more delicious (hot) food... View all feedback.

This restaurant was popular, but, being quite small, has CLOSED at this spot, but HAS MOVED to FORE STREET about 300 yards to the East, near the East Okement River, and its name has changed to The Allotment , as it uses food all supplied locally. I highly recommend it for a smiley welcome good wholesome food. Now sells jams preserves.
We stopped off here and had a vegan hot chocolate with our lunch. The vegan hot chocolate was better than most 'normal ' hot chocolates that I 've had, so I was very impressed! The food also was very nice, not entirely filling, but a decent sized lunch.
A small, very friendly welcoming venue. You can sit alone at a table just start chatting to another stranger, thus breaking down barriers between people. Drinks are delicious nothing is too much bother to the Lady there. Nice nibbles to buy at reasonable prices. The Shop Title comes from the Lady's youth when it became a family nickname, Smiles here are FREE !
Neither of us are vegan or even veggie. We do like good food though and the breakfast casserole we had was simply delicious. Rich, hearty, warming and pretty different to most things you'll find on any menu. Nice quirky feel to the place too.
We arrived in Okehampton on the Saturday, had read reviews of this vegan restaurant before we left so planned to stop in for a coffee before check in at our Air BnB. Unfortunately we couldn’t all fit in as the establishment only sits 10 people. So we regrouped, let the week pass, contacted the owner (who was delightful) and booked ourselves in for the Friday morning. As we had a group of 9, she closed the restaurant for breakfast so we had exclusive use for the first 2.5 hours. The food itself was amazing! Between our group we had a mixture of the evolving menu. We enjoyed the full hog, the breakfast yogurt bowl, and the crumpets! All of them delicious! As a group we also enjoyed a selection of hot and cold drinks. When we left none of the plates or bowls were burdened by left overs, clear plates as far as the eye could see. I used the phrase evolving menu because when we asked to see the menu before we booked, Rebecca was unable to fulfil this request as she didn’t know what vegetables she would have from the allotment that morning! Perfect! This is a restaurant I would highly recommend to anyone, vegan or otherwise, in the local area. The food was filling and delicious. The host was fabulous. The cakes were cracking.
Mooplehog is a charming vegan cafe in Okehampton, with a warm, welcoming atmosphere and friendly staff. The menu is filled with delicious and innovative dishes made with locally sourced ingredients. The establishment's cozy interior is adorned with quirky decor, creating a unique dining experience. Guests rave about the tasty food options and delightful desserts, including the lovely Mediterranean tart and smoked beans on toast. The cafe is dog-friendly, making it a great spot for all visitors. Mooplehog is a must-visit for anyone in the area, offering a delightful culinary adventure that won't disappoint.

Excellent eating, excellent coffee and a huge selection of tea and beautiful cakes. it is 100% vegan, but you would never know if you didn't ask. perhaps also the most friendly place in okehampton. I see you there!
This woman creates the most delicious combination of aromen. it is an excellent caffe, friendly and fun. there is a lot of hearty to satisfy, and oh, my cakes and tar are mouthwater. I would recommend a visit even if it requires a distraction to do it.
Tasty selection at home cooked lunch and cake. good selection of tees and coffee. very friendly relaxed atmosphere and best of all, totally vegan.

Vegan cafe, small but well stocked and the food was very well presented and delicious. The best salad which even had a stuffed carrot and a very tasty sausage roll. Would highly recommend and the host was lovely and made us feel very welcome.
If you're after something a bit different, made with love and locally sourced, you need to try Mooplehog. The menu is 100% vegan and features a range of amazing breakfast and lunch options, with teas, home-roasted coffees, shakes and handmade cakes to round it off!
I enjoyed a lovely afternoon tea for my birthday. They offered a wonderful assortment of food and a delightful atmosphere. The chocolate cake was exceptional, and they had an impressive selection of their own blended teas. The staff was very friendly and accommodating; nothing was too much trouble for them. I highly recommend this place!
This café is very small, but the food packs a blow. There are only 2 tables. I had the Mediterranean tar, which was delicious together with the salad dressing. Especially remarkable was the pastry. My husband didn't find his sausage roll personally, it's pretty dirty, but everyone has their own personal taste. There is a nice selection of food to buy. Next time I would have the sourdough I saw someone look delish.
This place has just changed into a vegan cafe (from quirky gift shop). I can recommend the falafels and salad, the raw caramel cheesecake , the chocolate cake, hot chocolate.... well, everything I reckon! Rebecca and Shane who run this little cafe can tell you all about their journey into providing innovative food with carefully sourced ingredients. I always love finding a cafe where I can choose anything on the menu without asking what 's in it and plenty of desserts to choose from!
