I liked the atmosphere here and the food and drinks are delicious. My friend said that was one of her favorite spots and now I see why. The Eve drink (can not remember the exact name, but has apple and cognac in it. It's amazing. It's one of those drinks you drink because it was so good and strong. We got the excellent dives and that was the first time I had Schnitzel before and it was so damn good I came back to get... View all feedback.
What Caroline D doesn't like about Juniper:
Upon recommendation of my mother who lives in Wellesley, I purchased a $75 gift certificate for my sister on 10/12. My cred card shows the charges. I didn't get any certificate nor did my sister. I called 3x and spoke to a server and he said he'd notify his supervisor. I left one voicemail. Today, the voicemail is mysteriously full, likewise the last time I called during business hours last week. My next step is to c... View all feedback.
This is by far the best restaurant in Wellesley. It's one of my favorites in Boston all around. Great flavors, consistent, inventive cocktails, fun vibe. Great service. Romantic atmosphere, would be great for a date.
Update: went again and the service was a bit lack lustre. Food was good but we were served in terrible plates, one was chipped quite a lot and I can't believe the person who plated as well as the server did not see it. We were sitting at the bar first, waiting for our table and when our table was ready, our drinks had not yet arrived. When we asked what to do about it, will the drinks come to our table, the hostess/ server said just bring them with you when it's ready and come over to the table which was at the end of the restaurant, so quite a bit of walk with glasses filled to the brim with drinks. I don't know if it was too much to expect that they would at least offee to bring the drinks to the table . But a tad bit disappointed with that. The sitting was not the best table or ambience but we were okay with that. I would expect a little more when it's one of the good restaurants in the area and when you end up giving a tip of 20% and more each time. ... First visit: Terrific food and service like other Dave Becker establishments. Walked in at 7:30 on Friday and was able to get a table indoors right away. Food servings (mains)are huge and are easily shareable between two or even three people. Everything we ordered tasted fantastic. Had the baba ghanouj and charred octopus for appetizers along with two cocktails. The cocktails were on point and the apps just as good. We ordered just one entree, the ghalieh mahi(seafood stew with saffron rice) to share between two people and it was a humongous portion. It came with tons of seafood and the stew was served hot and fresh. It was so good that we ate everything and had nothing left to bring home. I swear I ate three times more than I usually eat but it was so good. We could not eat any dessert as we were obviously more than full. Service was relaxed and friendly. Highly recommend this place.
The food was delicious! Although the menu was limited the portions were quite large. The French Alchemy (martini-like gin drink) was very small and extremely over-priced. The warm date cake was fabulous! I look forward to visiting again!
I went for dinner to Juniper on a Friday evening. They don’t take reservations. No prob. All of our party didn’t reach together, and they declined to seat us till everyone reached. No big deal, but it was already going south from there. The journey continued downwards thereafter. No high chairs for kids. No kids menu or food worthy of kids palate. Being a Mediterranean restaurant, they don’t have rice pilaf. Hmmm. We order pasta, which is nothing but boiled pasta with some salt. AYFKM?! Everything that we order from there onwards, was underwhelming. Baba Ganoush was worse than a hole in the wall place I know in Framingham. Shish taouk was hard, chewy and flavorless. My local convenience store sells frozen falafels, which are better than the ones at Juniper. Not to forget that there were 5 servers at various points in time and they kept on messing up the order, bringing other table’s food to us at least thrice. Just look at the glass in which I was served a beer. Sanitation be darned, one server served me beer holding the glass right at the rim. Seriously guys? To end it all, another server came hastily to clean our table and in his hurry, knocked over my eyeglasses off the table. They were fine, but had they been broken, I’d have lost it. I did lose, rather waste, my money though. Please don’t waste yours and look elsewhere if you seek good food, let alone Mediterranean food.
