The restaurant may be quite simple in appearance, but the food is incredible! The prices are also very reasonable!
Kid-friendliness: There are no high chairs available. Parking: Parking is limited, as the restaurant shares space with other businesses in the plaza. Wheelchair accessibility: Unfortunately, there is no wheelchair accessibility.
I decided to give this place another try because I really enjoyed the food I had a couple of years ago. However, when I visited recently for the hot table, the staff didn't acknowledge the line of customers waiting, which included about eight others in front of me. The staff seemed disorganized—one lady was taking orders while also preparing food for dine-in customers. They might have been short-staffed. The food was just okay (I had the Palabok). I noticed someone from the kitchen pacing in the back and wandering in and out without offering any help to the lady at the front.
As reviewed on Yelp on August 22, 2022: Berto's never fails to impress us! My friends take me here every year when I visit. Their breakfast is consistently delicious, and the halo halo is absolutely worth the journey from Hamilton. Although their selection of hot food isn't extensive, they offer all the classic dishes we look forward to!
For the dinner dishes, I would rate them 4/5. I tried the squid, which was pleasant; the seasoning was fairly standard, allowing the squid's natural flavor to come through. While it may have lacked complexity, it was still enjoyable if you appreciate the combination of soy sauce and squid with a hint of acidity. The other dish was a beef stew with tomato sauce and vegetables—I can't recall its name, but the flavors blended nicely, and the beef was tender. I would definitely order that again if given the chance! For dessert, I opted for the Halo Halo and would rate it 4/5. The flan on top was delicious, creamy, and smooth, but I was advised to mix everything together. Honestly, I could have happily just eaten the flan! The ube ice cream had a lovely coconut flavor, with subtle hints of ube. It was on the sweeter side, but not overwhelming. The jackfruit pieces added excellent texture, and the beans at the bottom provided a nice balance. Overall, it was a well-priced and visually appealing dish, perfect for photos! In conclusion, I would definitely return for a quick, budget-friendly meal. It's great value for the price, and my Filipino friend approves! I can't wait to try their kamayan next time!
