What gillk867 likes about The Red Lion Chelwood Gate:
My friend and I stopped at this restaurant for lunch and we were greeted by a friendly landlady and a young man. The landlady had not been there long, but the service, food, and conversation were all delightful. The restaurant was very clean and had a beautiful garden with plenty of seating that was child-friendly. We will definitely be returning. View all feedback. What S ABSussex doesn't like about The Red Lion Chelwood Gate:

read moreThe Red Lion, once a beloved dining destination, has recently garnered mixed reviews. While some patrons have enjoyed delightful experiences with friendly service and delicious meals, others report disappointing visits marked by mediocre food, inadequate service, and a lack of experienced staff. Issues range from cold plates and undercooked dishes to staff unfamiliarity with menu options. However, there are glimmers of hope, with some diners praising the ambiance, cleanliness, and efficient service during large group events. Despite the inconsistencies, many long-time visitors yearn for the high standards the restaurant once upheld, hoping for a return to its former glory.
