Popped in for coffee saw the quality of the food and ordered three lunches glad we did food was great and so were the staff.
You could very easily walk past Edwards cafe but give it a try. Very good value for money and well home cooked food. Small and cosy, need to book at busy times. An efficient manager who runs a tight ship. I dont think she would hesitate to sort out any customers who were late. We got told off for being early! Really nice sunday lunch but only 3 choices. Well worth a visit, but be on time!
We’d read about Edwards on TripAdvisor and booked for Sunday lunch. Now be warned. If you don’t book, you won’t eat! On the menu is....well Sunday lunch, a roast dinner with chicken, beef or lamb....nothing else. But my, do they do it well! With your choice of meat, you get: carrots, green beans, cabbage, roast potatoes, mashed potatoes, broccoli, cauliflower cheese, Yorkshire pudding and a jug of gravy (with free refills). That’s 7 veg, plus the pud and gravy! Now NORMALLY, you get a choice of a upgrading in a carvery to extra large. Here, you get a choice of NORMAL or SMALL. To explain, small is really large, and normal is really another word for HUGE! But ALL the bills are small. Small is £6.95 and normal is £8.75. I hope that’s clear! Whatever, we had 2 HUGE roast dinners with drinks for under £20. Is that normal for Suffolk? Who knows? All we know is that it’s a quirky tardis of a place. The frontage is about 8ft wide but when you’re inside, it goes back a long way. There are maybe 12 tables for 4. And they’re booked solid every Sunday. So....book well ahead to avoid disappointment. This place is ultra popular with local people. And justifiably so. Good, plentiful, tasty, well-cooked food. Good honest food with no frills. We both had the lamb which was superb. Loads of tender slices of meat. Don’t think normal. Don’t think big. Think HUGE....and then some! Now this is no posh restaurant with crisp linen tablecloths and poncy waiters. It’s sort of a cafe...PLUS. You can have a glass or a bottle of wine, or a beer. So...a small place with big portions of normal food?!?! Try it. Amazing sums it up. And great fun if you get chatting to Karen. You will definitely not be disappointed.....unless you forget to book well ahead that is.
Another fantastic pit stop for tea, cake and banter. Home made Eccles cake to die for and the joyous banter of the delightful Mrs Prime.
