I suggest ordering a variety of... read more Lapis introduced me to the flavors of Afghan cuisine. I never imagined the best dumplings in DC would come from the Middle East! I suggest ordering a variety of dishes to sample the full range of the menu. Aside from the dumplings (shrimp and beef), the standout for me was the lamb shank. The meat was tender and juicy, perfectly complemented by the basmati rice. Although not pictured, the desserts were also exceptional. The vanilla ice cream paired with almond cake is a classic combination that everyone should try!

It was our first time trying Afghan cuisine, and the staff at Lapis thoughtfully explained the menu and even suggested dishes suitable for our kids. We ordered four items from the menu, and every single one was fantastic. The interior of the restaurant is stunning, and the patio area looked equally inviting.

Th... read more Delicious food and attentive service! I visited Lapis for dinner with colleagues visiting from out of town, and the setting was perfect for a work gathering. The five of us sat outside, enjoying plenty of space and two heaters that kept us warm on a chilly early-November evening. We shared several dishes “family style,” which was a wonderful way to sample a variety of menu items. Our choices included veggie dumplings, shrimp dumplings, eggplant, carrots with dates, and several lamb dishes. The lamb was cooked to perfection—so tender it could be cut with a spoon. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and I look forward to returning in the future.

I visited this restaurant for a dinner with colleagues from out of town, and the ambiance was perfect for a business meeting. We sat outside, where there was ample space and two heaters to keep us warm on a chilly November evening. We shared several dishes family-style, which allowed us to sample a variety of menu items. We ordered veggie dumplings, shrimp dumplings, eggplant, carrots with dates, and a few different lamb dishes. The lamb was cooked to perfection and so tender that it could be cut with a spoon. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and I look forward to coming back in the future.

The food was absolutely delicious, especially the lamb chops and the classic mantoo, which are both must-tries. Since I visited for my birthday, I was pleasantly surprised to receive a complimentary dessert.
