I'm revising my review from five years ago as it's no longer accurate. I've visited El Rey twice in the last month or two, each time for dinner and drinks before a concert. Both times we sat at the bar and JB took care of us. We had so much fun each time he's really engaging and mixed amazing drinks. He really takes pride in his work and it shows. Great food, great music, great drinks, great vibe Visited each time on a Friday evening post work and enjoyed chat and chew with the girls.
Food is 2/5 The drinks are great 5/5 As a heavy loving tequila girl, a *frozen* margarita pitcher is $28 and is worth getting for me! It is STRONG and even
El Rey has a fantastic patio, and is basically a patio with an indoor area about 50% the size.
Nachos and pitchers of margs, what else can you ask for?
Stopped by on a Saturday and ordered the breakfast burrito al pastor of the brunch menu. That and the chips and queso were both delicious! The servers could have been a little bit more attentive, since there were so few people in the restaurant, but I'll definitely be back. Edit: went back on a weekday and ordered some tacos and the tortillas were dry, tough, and chewy. Definitely not a good show when a Mexican restaurant has bad tortillas
