Bub & Pop's - Washington, D.C.
Bub & Pop's
Description
Bub and Pop's, a popular sandwich shop in DC, seems to be a mixed bag of reviews. While some customers found the sandwiches to be good but not outstanding, others praised the delicious and comforting classics offered. The service seemed to be a recurring issue, with long wait times and lost orders being a common complaint. However, the quick service for takeout orders was appreciated by many. The restaurant's popularity and positive reviews seemed to create high expectations for some, while others found the sandwiches underwhelming compared to other sandwich places in the area. Overall, Bub and Pop's appears to have its strengths in quick service, delicious sandwiches, and friendly staff, despite some inconsistencies in food quality and service.

Rich Boy is always delicious. Chicken parm easy second. Sandwiches ingredients fresh, never soggy
Awesome little sandwich shop, they are quick with orders and the sandwiches are delicious. Unless you’re dining in, you order outside at a window and wait until it’s ready.
Massive. Monumental. Colossal. These are the words I would use to describe the 12” Pepperoni Pizza Steak from Bub and Pop’s, just as readily as I would for legendary sea creatures. Both that sandwich and the Real Obama, which my wife opted for in a more modest 6” size, were astonishingly loaded with juicy, mouthwatering meat, cheese, sauce, and vegetables. It’s the kind of sandwich that forces you to pause for breath between bites to prevent being pulled into a flavorful abyss. The hoagie rolls holding everything together are delightfully crunchy and chewy, doing their best to contain the delicious chaos but ultimately leaving you in need of a sink and paper towels, depending on your choice. The Real Obama might be forgiving enough for a quick exit to a White House Press Conference, but beware — all hope is lost for those taking on the pepperoni pizza steak. If this review has made you smile or raised an eyebrow at my dramatic flair (though perhaps not as much as Jules Verne or Herman Melville), just know that the sandwich is to blame.
Food was amazing. Just sad it is take out only. Both the Italian and Chicken Parm were delicious!
There are few things I dread more than selecting something other than Bub's Italian from Bub and Pop's menu, fearing it won't be as delightful as my favorite dish. The fried shrimp on the rich boy and the roast porchetta on the Philly are tempting, but I might never experience their flavors because the Italian is simply perfection.
