We went here for dinner tonight and it was an exceptional meal on every level. The service is attentive and helpful, the drinks were delightful, and the food was some of the best I’ve ever had. It was a lovely experience and has been one of the highlights of our trip to DC so far. View all feedback.
What Hilbert Romaguera doesn't like about 1789:
while the other three diners were satisfied with their eating, I was not. the rabbit roulade and the duck breast lubricated as if the dishes stayed too long under a heat lamp and were dry. while I like endive, this cooking method is completely ridiculous. Do not enjoy the room on the upper floor, as we enjoyed other areas of the restaurant in the past. View all feedback.
Our server, Allyson, was a delight, and our meal quite splendid. We both loved the Autumn Salad and the halibut (perfectly cooked). The key lime dessert wasn't bad, but didn't actually taste like key lime and involved a little too many colors and flavors on the plate. Festive, but a little too neon... All in all, a really perfect place to celebrate our 47th anniversary!
Terrific experience. Staff does a great job. Food is spectacular.
Excellent experience all around beautiful ambiance and impeccable service. Food is truly fantastic clearly chef creations, NOT like a cruise ship production of many chains. Exactly what you expect and always hope for, but seldom get these days (in any price range). I proposed to my wife here 22 years ago and I can attest to the ongoing magic.
Everything was great. Most of our favorite restaurants closed during COVID. It was nice that this one was still open.
Service was courteous but a little slow. Wine pour was stingy, especially given the price.
