Long standing Georgetown DC restaurant. Prix fixe 3 course menu so evaluation of food a bit limited. What I and my dining companion had for Thanksgiving was good, choices quite limited on a special menu. While waiting for our reservation and with the restaurant and bar being over crowded, we were shown to a comfortable open space and our pre-dinner drinks were brought to us. All in all a very pleasant experience throughout our evening there. Restrooms are down a narrow hallway and are quite small.
MY FIRST EXPERIENCE WITH THE 1789, WAS IN 1963 OR 1964. I HAVE BEEN BACK MANY TIMES OVER THE YEARS. IT IS ALWAYS OUTSTANDING.
Thanksgiving meal was mediocre. Greens were burned and oversalted. Autumns salad had hardly any vegetables and was saturated with dressing. Lamo was pretty good but nothing exceptional.
