An overall good stay. It’s an amazing location and a charming hotel. However, it needs some updating. The 3 course meals that were included were ok but a little underwhelming. It’s still a solid 4 star experience and the staff was very helpful and friendly. A beautiful town to explore with the train station to Oslo 30 seconds walk away. View all feedback.
What Therealdan doesn't like about Fleischer's:
This was strange, ordered and paid for a 300 gram Omaha steak. After 10 minutes Staff came over and said that they did not have it. Was offered tenderloin as a replacement at a lower price. Tenderloin was underseasoned, reheated...... and very overcooked. The bernaise was a hollandaise, vegetables and potatoes were good but without seasoning aswell. View all feedback.
The hotel is right on the railway, so not far to drag your cases. We had two nights here, including dinners. No menu as such, just a choice between meat and fish! Venison was cooked perfectly. Breakfast is ok, again I'm disappointed by the lack of proper sausage and bacon!
We stayed at the hotel as part of a Titan Travel trip for two nights. Although very old decor, the room was well maintained, overlooked the lake and we had a great view. But they were clearly over busy when we arrived and service was therefore affected. We were not offered a choice for dinner Titan’s fault? but generally were not to feel welcomed and the restaurant manager pretty much told us to take it or leave it! There was even an argument when staff would not take cases to the side of the hotel where our bus was waiting! I would not stay there again and perhaps Titan should give it some thought? Many Titan regulars I was with said the food was just not up to the standard they are used to. Sorry guys! In fairness, they may have recruitment issues like we are having the the UK but if you’re open; you’re open!

Stayed in the hotel for 3 nights two of us in two rooms so not a cheap stay. One of us had booked half board whilst the other due to medication causing stomach problems had not. Asked if we could at least sit at the same table in the restaurant whilst the one with half board had their three course dinner the other ordered a lighted meal of the bar menu (still spending money in the hotel) resounding NO from the manager!!! We only serve 3 course meal in the restaurant so then we asked if we could sit in the bar again one having 3 course meal the other a lighter meal again NO. Not very accommodating what happened to having a service mind and trying to make sure people enjoyed their vacation. (On a side note we did see people being served bar food in the restaurant on the last night so clearly on rule for one and one for another). Tainted the whole stay to the extend would never recommend staying here.
The appetizer was a pumpkin soup with the best focaccia I've ever had. The main course was beef tenderloin with potatoes au gratin and pepper sauce. The presentation was wonderful, and they cooked the beef as we requested. The dessert was a chocolate fondant with raspberries, vanilla ice cream, crumbled chocolate chip cookie, and a strawberry with chocolate sauce. My husband who doesn't like chocolate got strawberries and vanilla ice cream. It was good, but probably storebought. The service was amazing, which is especially remarkable considering the guy manned the restaurant, bar AND reception. Because of covid and few guests I assume, the breakfast buffet was pretty limited. But you got hot dishes cooked on a hotplate by request, so that was really good. You could choose from: Omelet (ham and cheese or tomato and red onion) Fried egg, bacon, baked tomato with cheese Small pancakes with jam and sour cream The woman manning the kitchen and dining room was kind of all over the place, so you had to wait a little to get ahold of her.
