What Major S doesn't like about Jolly Roger Pizza:
This place has the worst pizza I've ever eaten. I've had pizza at over 50 pizza places in my life. This one is definitely the worst. I was told if I didn't like the pizza I would be given a refund. Attached is a photo in response to my request for a refund, that I was assured I would receive if I didn't like the pizza. The delivery driver and apparently the owners phone number is also in said photo. Jolly Roger Pizza... View all feedback.
The pizza here is absolutely delicious! The ingredients are incredibly fresh, and the portions are generous without needing to ask for extra. It’s a very family-friendly place with a super friendly staff. I make it a point to go there at least once a week with my family—definitely worth the 30-minute drive!
After a quiet evening with my non-binary partner, we decided to grab some pizza. However, we were asked to leave when I requested that our server come back to meet my three African children. They told us to leave, claiming I was making a scene by saying that pizza is the devil's food, even though the well-known and controversial news commentator Alex Jones from InfoWars has said the same thing. It seems like they’re always watching, so stay vigilant.
This establishment serves the worst pizza I've ever tasted. Having tried pizza from over 50 different pizzerias throughout my life, I can confidently say this one is at the bottom of the list. I was promised a refund if I didn't enjoy the pizza, so I requested one and have attached a photo related to my refund request, which I was assured would be honored. The delivery driver's phone number, along with what appears to be the owner's contact information, is included in the photo. Jolly Roger Pizza has completely turned me off; I will never order from them again. They were a huge disappointment. If I could give them zero stars, I would.
I was willing to overlook the less-than-welcoming environment until my teenage child picked up on the "we don't want you here" vibe—if they feel it, you know it's time to speak up. It was a Friday night in Vinton, and we hadn't had dinner yet, so we decided to go to Jolly's. I first asked my child to check the hours on the door. The "Open" light was on, and the sign said they were open until 10 PM, so we thought we'd be good to go. Upon walking in, we noticed that the back part of the restaurant had recently been mopped—fine by me, just don’t wait until closing to clean. We didn't see any other customers around. I asked a woman if they were still open, knowing the sign indicated they were. She informed us that they take orders until 9:30 PM, which was fine since it was only 9:10 PM according to our phones. We placed our order without issue. However, my child immediately sensed the negativity, sending me a text that read, "Seems cranky." I agreed and decided to order the pizza for takeout to avoid inconvenience. Since we were really hungry, we also ordered some cheese bread, which shouldn’t take long to prepare. The woman went back to relay our order to the cook, who was right in the same room without any divider. It was clear she was not pleased, but I tried to let it slide. Another adult came out and started discussing our order, mentioning how the oven was cold, etc. My child shot me a look that said, “This isn’t how service should be.” I then asked the woman if they would rather not make our order, as it appeared the cook hadn’t even begun preparing it—only the crust had been put on the pan. She started to explain herself but added, "You can go if you want." Not exactly the message I was hoping for. I pressed her again and made it clear that it felt like they didn’t want to bother with our order. Her response was the same: "I don’t care what you do. You can go if you want." So, I wondered, would my food even be safe to eat at this point? We decided to leave and headed three doors down to Pizza Ranch, which was also open until 10 PM. They welcomed us warmly, and our pizza was served in less than 15 minutes. I could understand if I’d walked in at 9:50 PM wanting a pizza, but seriously, if you’re going to advertise your hours, stick to them. If you’re closing early, just say so instead of making customers feel unwelcome. Had the staff been honest, I would have respected their decision and gone to Pizza Ranch right away. Sorry, Jolly's, but I won’t be back. Customers are quick to share their experiences, especially when it comes to poor service.
The pizza we just ordered was excellent! We absolutely loved it!
