We have eaten in this reatsurant twice for dinner. In both cases the proposed fish (sardinhas and bacalhau) was of very good quality less the meat that, anway, I have found too cooked in all reastaurants visitied in Portugal. The staff is professional and capable to help in choices of plates and wines. If temperatures allow, I suggest to eat outside during sunset and finish the dinner tasting a good cup of old Porto... What User doesn't like about Restaurante Imar:
Het eten hier was prima, de pork steak was niet heel speciaal, gekruid met veel zout en peper. Friet was goed knapperig maar de rijst had geen smaak. Verder was het personeel niet goed. Wij vroegen na onze maaltijd de rekening aan een van de obers. En werden erg raar aangekeken en kregen commentaar dat we het aan hem hadden gevraagd, en niet aan een van zijn collega's. Erg vreemd en niet respectvol naar zijn klanten.... View all feedback.
We had fantastic experience at this restaurant. The food was delicious, the portions were big (2adults and a child were full with two meals). The house wine was descent. The Brazian waiter was friendly as can be! Vais de Gaia was a discovery let se,...after many times in Porto. Unlike Cais de Ribeira, this side of the river is friendlier, much less popular and cheaper. The
This restaurant was recommended to us by our guide in a nearby winery where we went for a tour and port tasting on the south banks of the Douro river. Everything we ordered tasted delicious and we were very pleased to have our seafood fix...with the octopus salad, cod prepared with a sauce with onions and garlic, and fried wake. I also got to taste the Calda Verde, the kale soup that Porto is famous for. What we most enjoyed was the friendly, helpful yet unobtrusive service from when we were studying the menu board before deciding to eat here, through our meal, and up to when we were leaving; a true rarity in tourist packed Porto Lisbon). Highly recommend this restaurant if you want a relaxing evening with a solid meal and great service in spacious surrounds.
I had diner today with my children : service is very friendly, food is fresh and well cooked and the view on Douro river and sunset very nice.

Another reason for the choice.
