This summer, during my long stay in Vienna it is becoming a habit to have breakfast here. The outside table offer a relaxing view on the Augarten. The food is delicious (The Augarten Breakfast € 5,50) consists of 2 soft boiled eggs in a...glass with cress and 2 slices of home made bread with chives). There is also an inexpensive daily lunch (I ried it 3 times and it was a spot on. The big plus is that you get your dishes and tea served on the prestigious Augarten porcellan. The caffè is in fact part of the Augarten Porcellan Museum (worth a visit). I really do not understand the negative reviews I read on this. Yes: there are many children on sunday and sometimes they cry/make noise. Yes they can be a bit slow in the service: but the place is a dream the food is perfect and the price is low. I am posting some pictures to give you an idea. I have been here many many times and I never have been disappointed. The hungarian waiter is always very helpful greets me in Italian !
Stumbled across this lovely Cafe when exploring the Augarten, it was quiet and peaceful and served the most delicious food. One thing to note the portions are huge so if you only want a light snack you could share.
Just to set the frame: the Augarten is a huge park with a baroque french style garden dating back to the 17th century. In the midst of this garden, you can find the Palais Augarten (now occupied by the famous Viennese Boy's Choir) and next...to it the residence of the Augarten Porcelain Manufactory. In the same building the Cafe Restaurant is located. Enjoy sunny days on the two terraces and the historic scene. And if you are more interested in contemporary history: the 2 towers with antiaircraft artillery from world war 2nd are still visible. So, if you have any choice: take a table in the garden and simply enjoy.
