look, I can't say it's bad eating or so, but honestly for eur the menu per person this is definitiw under the standard of a michael. it lacks refinement in the plate and originality. It's good, but you're gonna feel okay, it's overpriced. To be honest, I would avoid falling the Michelin star and positioning the restaurant as a good with beautiful view over the sea and lower price. appart out that the view and the pla... Maxi, part of the Capo La Gala hotel, enjoys such a flawless location that it would be enough for a recommendation even if the food fell short (luckily that won't be necessary). The hotel is dug on the side of a steep cliff. We dined on a terrace overlooking the sea. At sunset the show is quite remarkable, with the gulf of Naples at your feet and the Vesuvius in the background. We came with high hopes because of the Michelin star awarded to the chef, and were not disappointed. They do a great job interpreting (and tweaking) traditional food. I recommend coming hungry enough for a tasting menu, always the best choice for restaurants of this caliber.
Man..I don't know if it was the ocean air, being so far away from home, the romantic backdrop but this was hands down one of the best meals I've had in Italy ; The location is tucked away inside a boutique hotel, Capo La Gala highly recommend staying here. Incredible view of the endless ocean. The service was spot on. Funny note apparently they give the women menus without pricing and the men menus with pricing. I've never experienced that before. Not that it mattered. The food was amazing, apéritifs were fun little spoonfuls of amazingness. Crostini with prosciutto and a fried zucchini chip, arancini which is essentially fried risotto balls, and raw white fish with crunchy onion on top. Each dish had an excellent play on textures which I'm a huge fan of. Fish filet was perfectly cooked with the skin crisped up. Husband had the tenderloin with shaved truffles on top. Pallet cleanser of a light panna cotta was served as well. The desserts were playful and creative. I had a chocolate torte with a hazelnut cookie base and edible gold leaf. We also had a spicy sorbet which was tucked inside a light cake. Interesting and good. It sounded so odd ball we had to order it. The meal was memorable, food was plated and prepared with immaculate precision. I'm sure my description of the dishes don't do it justice. The cost? I think it was $300? give or take. Worth it? YES. You only live once..and as my mother would say you can't take your money with you.
La location è da sogno, la cucina è pregiata e il personale è attento ad ogni bisogno. Peccato non aver trovato una camera disponibile per passare la notte! I prezzi sono elevati ma sono commisurati alla qualità dei prodotti e del servizio.
Man. I don't know if it was the ocean air, so far away from home, the romantic scene, but that was downstairs one of the best meal I had.
