Mahoroba Japanese Restaurant is a small but quaint family operated restaurant located on the main street of Vernon, BC. Open year round closed on holidays, Sundays and Mondays. What User doesn't like about mahoroba:
Who knew there was a little private room in the back - different and fun! Restaurant was full at lunch so we were offered the private room. Keep that in mind and good idea to make a reservation. Seaweed salad was delicious and the few rolls we had were okay .- nothing special here. But it's okay. they can sit outside the restaurants where the street is blocked and have a beautiful picnic table. we ordered Bento box and it fed me and my husband. only the problem was, my man doesn't eat raw fish and I'm pregnant. so we have specifically asked them to make nigiri with only cooked items. 3 of 4 were cooked nigiri, but they gave a shrimp that was still raw. so they had to give only 4 stars.
I love this place! eating is good and the service is always excellent. highly recommended!
Their gyoza, tempura and sushi were all delicious! the bark udon was, however, a total disappointment; the broth was tasteless, the bark was chewing and hard, and the tofu (I think it was tofu) was spongy on the inside and soggy on the outside. I'd never eat here again, I'm not going to get it again.
We have been going to this place for years and it is amazing. they have the best miso suppe in the city, and there are sushi roles great. I can't stress how much I love this place that has been a second home for me for years.
Their teriyaki chicken is my absolute favorite. The right amount of food at the right price. They are still doing take-out so I'll have to hit them up again very soon.
