I have to admit I did eat here earlier in the week, with my wife and had a wonderful assiette valaisanne and Fondue de bolets, however this is for the annual lunch with my skiing buddies. Delphine, in charge, remembered us as we arrived and...gave us a warm welcome and liquid refreshments on the deck so we could enjoy the sun. Once inside, we tactically made sure we covered most of the menu as some of the choices wer... View all feedback.
What Giulio Galli doesn't like about Au Vieux Champex:
Although this restaurant is in Switzerland, and the menu showed no pricing units, as in Swiss francs, when we paid the bill the management insisted on euros, which are worth far more at present than francs. In other words, they imposed a surcharge without notice. Possibly worse, the mushrooms on the pizza were from a can, practically a sacrilege in this lake community that celebrates its fresh and varied mushrooms. F... View all feedback.
We were there after a splitboard tour. Beautiful ambience, good food and you can feel that the owner is really interested in their guests. I'll go back to the Champex Lac next time. Thank you.
Very good Jambon a L'os, Maccaroni Alpage, Roesti du Berger and thin base pizza. Tarte Fruit Glacier, Mousse au 2 Chocolats and Glace very beautiful. Excellent Sorbet Williamine with a very good **** from Williamine!
I was often in this restaurant. We visit Champex regularly and love the location of what is written on the menu, and the interior of the restaurant. But we are bitterly disappointed ALWAYS. We consistently hope that Delphine (the manager) could welcome us...with a more hospitable and friendly welcome to be regular, but it always seems as if we expose them in any way. As mentioned by another review, it is almost hostile. Prices are more expensive than those in Verbier and the quality of food and services produced only CANNOTT justify this! For anyone who thinks to go, I would ask you to go over the way to beautiful Cabanon, where they provide you service with a smile, the food is excellent and at a much more reasonable price.
The restaurant looks cozy inside, so we decided to stay, which ended up being a big mistake. The service was very unfriendly, almost hostile, even though there were only two tables occupied in the restaurant. One person in our part had a steak and that...was pretty good, and came with real potatoes and a salad. Two of us ordered the chicken cordon blue which I am very certain came prepackaged and frozen, and was baked. And our French fries were also previously frozen and fried and were not all that great. And considering what we got it was fairly expensive.
Un cadre ancien, un emplacement maintenant moins agréable qu'avant vu les nouvelles constructions qui cachent le lac.Cuisine et service correctes sans plus.Prix beaucoup trop élevés pour ce que c'est.
