De Akker is perfect for anyone that likes a nice old-fashioned vibe, music that isn't too loud and annoying and cold beer. <br/ <br/ Prices are pretty decent, but their main attraction has to be the barmen. Always making jokes and having a good time, making it look like a great place to work. Management is also pretty on it, always hustling. <br/ <br/ They have an upstairs venue that is open to hire for an event, which is very cool for a 21st or any party. <br/ <br/

Decent size, tasty burgers! Plus a good variety of beverages service is best to walk right to the bar but perfect for a chill out spot, especially if you want to be in the sunshine or moonlight. Expect students cheering fellow strangers

The original. Probably one of the oldest pubs in the country, De Akker does have absolutely legendary status, and it lives up to that status with an old school type charm. The service, I have noticed over several visits, is not the best in the world, however, and the prices compared to the iconic venues in other Varsity towns like Potchefstroom and Bloemfontein is quite expensive. Still, this is Stellies, so suck it up and enjoy your drink with the strange-looking locals.
