Haven't been here in years so nice to see it's still there. My wife has a smaller appetite so had the 3 short eats shown in a picture on the menu, tamal, pupusa View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about El Tucan:
El Tucan is as close to the real thing as you are going to get being in Ontario. The food is fresh, well prepared and believe me, original! At first glance, the place may not look as inviting as one would hope however, once in, you realize that the atmosphere is very cozy. This is a family run business and the care put just in the service alone makes it a 'must go back' kind of place. After my first visit and having... View all feedback.
I ordered some rice pupusas to go and they were a huge disappointment. I’m not sure if the owners changed since it’s now called villa Latina but the food was terrible. The rice masa was old and stale. The pupusas were a lot smaller then usual and the filing lacked flavour, they were dry which is not typical) and hard to eat. I am Salvadorian and I can tell you that these were the worst pupusas I’ve ever had. I won’t be returning.
Location: on a busy street, with parking on the street depending of the hour Ambiance: The decor make it easy to imagine that you are in a small restaurant in central america. Food: Good home made food. Could not find anything wrong with the quality of food on my plate. Nice presentation, and tasting very good. buritos were served with rice and a tasty sauce. If you want to discover a new place, do not hesitate...this is the place to go. We will certainly go back to tate more of the San Salvadorian cuisine.
A group of 14 friends visited this restaurant and were warmly welcomed. The food was delicious, featuring Salvadorian, Tex-Mex, and Canadian cuisine. This cozy spot offers home-cooked meals and is run by just two staff members: the cook and the waiter/waitress. The service may be a bit slow, but that shouldn't stop you from enjoying a great meal.
I've been here several times and it always has latino patrons. The food is very homey and tasty, from El Salvador but also other places in Latin america. I'll keep coming here.
Haven't been here in years so nice to see it's still there. My wife has a smaller appetite so had the 3 short eats shown in a picture on the menu, tamal, pupusa one other and enjoyed very much $3 each) served with a jar of coleslaw Salvadoran tomato sauce both very nice). I had a dish with spiced fried pork on yucas fritas with coleslaw and tomato sauce, very tasty but it took me a couple bites to get used to the spice on the pork, the yucas fritas with it's toppings was very tasty and enjoyed. This is a relaxed, low key place which serves some very tasty food. We'll be back sometime!
