Joy Sushi - Vail
Joy Sushi
Description
Tucked in West Vail, this vibrant, unpretentious sushi spot is celebrated for exceptionally fresh fish, generous rolls, fast service and reliable takeout. Vegan and vegetarian options and scenic mountain views add appeal, while attentive servers and a good wine selection enhance the experience. Some diners note inconsistent service, occasional declines in fish quality, price concerns, and lapses in allergen knowledge or drink-menu availability. Overall it’s a lively hidden gem best for seafood lovers who value freshness and speed, with a few caveats about consistency and cost.

I felt rushed during dinner service, as I was told the kitchen was closing even though they had agreed to seat me at 8 PM. There was also no drink menu available. For the price I paid, I'd suggest looking for other dining options in the valley. I spent $80 on my meal but didn’t enjoy it and won’t be coming back. Additionally, my server wasn’t familiar with allergens in some of the dishes.
After reading the glowing reviews, we had to check it out. We were in the mood for sushi, and nothing could compare based on locals' suggestions. This small, charming restaurant is located just across the freeway from Vail, so don’t let its size or location deter you. The food was fresh and absolutely incredible! They have an extensive menu of rolls with fantastic options. The sushi was not only incredibly fresh but also featured generous portions of fish. The hot sake was plentiful and delicious. The staff was warm and welcoming, genuinely appreciating our business. My wife and I will definitely return!
This is a must try when you're ready to eat off site Vail and pay half the usual price in town. The sushi was so fresh and generous in size. Service is great and they are incredibly fast with serving the food. I wish I had a gem like this back home.
It was an amazing place when it opened, we’ve used to eat there at least once a week, sadly over the years it lost from the quality…The rolls are still good but for that price I’ll rather order from other restaurants in town and get better fish quality. Not the best customer service.
This local Japanese restaurant offers a wide array of starters, sushi and rice dishes. There is a great selection of vegan and vegetarian options. The location of the restaurant is really great with beautiful views of the Vail mountains. The interior of the restaurant is very vibrant and colorful. The staff are one of the most friendliest i have experienced. The manager who has been working at the restaurant for about a year was very knowledgeable and very friendly. They took the extra time to take care of our dietary restrictions. We started out with miso soup which was the perfect dish to start with; warm and flavorful. The Green Run Roll and the Buddha Roll were not only visually stunning but extremely delicious. The vegan vegetable fried rice was really flavorful and had the right amount of seasoning. The vegetable gyoza however could have been done a little better; I couldn't taste the vegetables as much inside the gyoza. I would highly recommend this hidden gem of a restaurant in Vail.Vegetarian options: Great selection of vegetarian and vegan optionsParking: A lot of parking available in this strip mallDietary restrictions: Staff can accommodate a lot dietary restrictions.
