We had never been to Uzerche so had walk around the centre up to church/cathedral highly recommend.Did not want lunch with pink tablecloths etc and had a hunch... read more We had never been to Uzerche so had walk around the centre up to church/cathedral highly recommend.Did not want lunch with pink tablecloths etc and had a hunch about this place.The hunch was confirmed.It’s a short drive from the town but we’ll worth it.Reassuring g to know that this sort of homely rural cooking still exists in the byways of France.Like stepping into a film set for the late 50s…Madame gave us a great welcome. A handful of local gentlemen were discussing issues of the day over pasties and pression. There is no menu, no wine list. Vast plates of homemade quiche,green salad and an excellent vinaigrette were delicious as was the carafe of red. We were then a bit anxious and full) was that really the starter? Or the main course. That was answered when further vast plates of duck with roast potatoes appeared. Fortunately our host was agreeable to “emportey “ one of number had been travelling since 4am). In summary I cannot recommend highly enough for character, the welcome and good home cooking. 50 euros for the 3 of us including 2 passion and a generous carafe.Also very dog friendly.
