Curry Workz - Upper Hutt
Curry Workz
Description
A long-standing Upper Hutt favourite, this casual Indian spot earns praise for friendly, attentive service, generous portions and good value—especially naan, mixed platters and vegetarian dishes. The dining room is clean and family-friendly, though decor feels dated. Consistency is an issue: butter chicken is frequently thin, sweet or watery, naan quality sometimes varies, and occasional order mix-ups and competing TV/music can detract. Still, for affordable, welcoming meals and reliable takeout, it remains a popular local choice.

This place is delicious, super flavourful thick curries We also had the chicken lollipops and masala poppadoms great price too! Stupidly we couldn't help ourselves and ate every bite... Full to the brim Can't wait to go back Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $30–40 Food: 5 Service: 5
There were a lot of big functions going on the day I ate here when i prefer a much quieter atmosphere than that. Never the less the noisy guests were well worth putting up with for a meal of that quality. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 3
I had the chicken vindaloo which was different in comparison to others restaurants but not too much. It was delicious. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The only downside was the Indian music that was mixed in with whatever sounds were coming from the TV on the wall. I would say pick one and stick to that. Overall I very much liked my meal. If I could give 4.5 stars, I would. I went on a Thursday night with 1 other person and we were the only ones there for the whole time. The mixed platter for 2 is great value and the Naan breads we cut up and were massive also great value. The curries themselves were quite nice. I did ask for a medium though and found it was pretty mild. While the meat in the curries was nice and tender, there were only about 5 or 6 pieces in each one. You typically get more from other places. The service was excellent though and the staff are very friendly. The place was also well decorated and clean. I would recommend removing the large Jim Beam bottle off their drink station though as I feel that it doesn't fit in with the indian theme. Prices also reasonable. Would recommend this place.
