Was Anonym at The Apprentice a mag?
We went to The Apprentice for our wedding anniversary and had a wonderful time. As it is a training restaurant fostering learning, we were very impressed with the enthusiasm of the staff. The food was delicious, and we enjoyed every moment. Thank you! View all feedback.
What Anonym dislikes about The Apprentice:
$30pp for a four cursor meal prepared by tafe chefstudents and also served by tafe hospitable students. bacon and ice quiche . dry baked, tasteless fill. duck and hokkien nudeln. that is much better than the prestarter? moist duck, brownish asian style dressing with much coriander.

Phoned ahead to let the restaurant know that we would have a couple of our party running a little late. No problem, all catered for. Seated for drinks, and service began once the full party was there. There was confusion about how the ordering process would work - turned out it was a set menu and you would get a dish each, much like at a wedding, which meant there was no need to choose from the menu. The starters were excellently prepared, mine was a trout dish with creme fraiche which was tremendous. Others had zucchini flowers, another dish had lamb. A bottle of well priced Cabernet Sauvignon accompanied mains, I had duck and there was a barramundi dish amongst the group, and dessert was a chocolate plate with delicious peach cream and sesame seed wafers. All in all a fabulous meal, and ideal for the occasion, a relaxed business meeting. The floor staff were courteous and attentive, and ok there were a few fumbles and spills and some of the clearing away was a little swift, but that's part of the charm and anyway the wait staff were doing a better job than I could! The food though was great, and the early finish around 9pm was spot on for a weekday dinner. I'll be back for sure. Keep up the good work!
My husband and i dined here on recent visit to Sydney and were very impressed. The food was delicious and delivered very promptly. The young girl who served us(Shirley)was great, very friendly and professional The restaurant itself is quiet and elegant and has a lovely relaxing ambiance about it.You have to book for this, they don t take walk ins off the street.Only thing we didn't like was when the person in charge chided the student in front of us over a very minor thing.I know this is a training restaurant but she could have taken the young girl aside and not reprimand her out in front of us.My husband said that part of the evening made him a bit uncomfortable as he felt sorry for the young girl.Apart from that we had a lovely evening and it is certainly great value for money.$35 for a 3 course meal that is as good as you will get in a fine dining restaurant.

Went to The Apprentice with 5 mates when Colin Barker (The Boathouse Blackwattle Bay) was in for a mentor night. The service and food was second to none. The food was really delicious, and even though it was a menu that Colin created it was still the students who prepared and cooked it all.Really WOW !! I would absolutely recommend this for a place to try. It is amazing value for money.
A four course meal with 5 star service for $30! Its a training venue, so the students are very keen to please. They also do a 3 course lunch for $22! We went to the Prymont food festival's Mudgee Wine dinner, put on by TAFE's budding chefs, and hospitality course. Excellent wines were matched from the Mudgee region. Look out for it in early May each year. The whole lot just $65 per head. There was a full house, but I couldn't fault the service. The Maitre d' was first class, despite a full house, and supervising a dozen students, he still found time to attend to each and every guest. Many of the TAFE colleges have a venue like this. You won't get better value for money. The last few reviews are getting old, but they are all still 100% relevant. Read them over.

This was my second time at the Apprentice, which I like the idea of, however this time was disappointing. The entree was cold and tasteless, the Chicken main was a bit dry, uninspired, small, and flavourless, the desert was nice. However, my companions raved about the pork . What most upset me was our group being split into 2 tables? Why? as well as prepaying for 2 people who could not attend due to Covid. Sure, the policy says no cancellation, however why should I pay for drinks for people who do not show. Food goes off but drinks? And I am sorry, only 13 out of 15 people turned up, but surely that is a pretty good effort? If you want customers to support student chefs this is not an inspirational way to go about it.
Fantastic fine dining and hospitality. The food is delicious. Linda, the manager, made sure we were well taken care of. Bill waited on us and Anthony helped out. Both were excellent. Plenty of birthday celebrations. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $40–60 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

The Apprentice is a training restaurant up on Level 7 of Building E on the TAFE, Ultimo campus. At $22 per person for a 3 course lunch (Mon Wed, $24 for Thurs Fri), it 's great value for money and a bit like hitting the 'I 'm feeling lucky ' button on Google. You never know what you 're going to get on any given day.
Be surprised and support the students. What a surprise! The apprentice restaurant certainly didn't look like a TAFE establishment. The moment I arrived, I was stunned with the level of service, eye for detail eg. arranged flowers on each table, mood lighting and instant attention from wait staff. Fair enough, these students were being assessed, but you do feel special when dining at Apprentice. The food can be a bit hit and miss. Canapes were perfect, however we received 4 different mains for our table of 4. For desserts, we received 3 of the same dessert rhubarb cheese cake but my friend received something totally different rose scented sponge cake. The menu changes every day and is completely dependent on the student cohort for that night so its difficult to rate the food. The apprentice is about the experience! Be open minded and you'll love the affordability of the 3 course meal and wine. I would definitely be back for another surprise!!!
I had a fantastic luncheon with my travel family! It was my first time trying kangaroo, and despite my initial reservations, I found it surprisingly tender and flavorful—far from gamey! A big congratulations to the trainee chefs who crafted a thoughtfully prepared three-course meal! I enjoyed every bit of it from start to finish.
For around $35, you can enjoy a three-course meal along with a drink (wine or beer). The dining area is moderately sized, featuring a charming old-fashioned decor. It's carpeted, comfortable, and exudes a casual, relaxed atmosphere. The sound quality is excellent, and tables are elegantly set with crisp white linens and stainless steel cutlery, showing the pride the staff takes in their work. The waitstaff are neatly dressed in stylish black and white uniforms, while the maitre d' looked dapper in his three-piece suit. My friend and I dined here on a chilly Thursday afternoon in June and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Each dish we tried was fresh and flavorful. I started with ravioli filled with haloumi, nuts, and raisins, followed by a fish pie as my main course. My friend opted for chicken skewers and a goat curry. As a delightful surprise, we were treated to three desserts: an orange cake, a pineapple creation topped with a scoop of ice cream, and a crème brûlée with fruit. The standout dish was definitely the fish pie, which featured perfectly cooked, soft and fluffy pastry encasing chunky pieces of tender bream in a creamy white sauce, served alongside a small portion of noodles and a rich potato and pea mash. The staff is polite and eager to please, though our order taker was slightly tentative. However, we understood this was part of the learning process, so we were happy to be patient! Once the order was finalized—after some discussion with the maitre d' about our options—the dishes arrived promptly and in the correct sequence. Flexibility is essential, as the maitre d' makes sure every food preparer has a chance to display their talents. We were more than willing to accommodate this by selecting a variety of dishes. Clean and tidy restrooms are conveniently located just outside the dining area, with additional facilities available on the ground floor, just around the corner from the café. Overall, the ambiance is pleasant, welcoming, and relaxed. I highly recommend this spot for lunch or dinner, all while supporting a wonderful initiative to help these aspiring professionals sharpen their skills.
One point I noticed was that, due to the alternating menu, I ended up with fish for both the appetizer and main course. As I'm not a big fan of fish, I would have liked the opportunity to explore more of the menu options rather than being limited in that way. Overall, the evening was quite pleasant because the students put in a great effort to ensure the dinner was a full experience, rather than just a casual trip to a local restaurant. It certainly felt like a proper dining experience. The prices for both the food and drinks were very reasonable! I would definitely consider visiting another TAFE restaurant in the future.

Nicely presented quality dining. Helping students learn and enjoying the atmosphere in a very central location. Easy to enjoy.

I understand your surprise at seeing me dine at a one-star restaurant. Despite the lack of reviews, I decided to give it a try.
