Reviews - Argyll Hotel
Reviews summary
Perched on Argyle Street in Ullapool, the Argyll Hotel is a compact pub‑hotel that many guests praise for its friendly, down‑to‑earth atmosphere and memorable harbour outlook. Visitors highlight a strong selection of real ales and craft beers, hearty, homemade dishes such as fish soup, burgers and proper chips, and a lively bar that often hosts entertainment. At the same time some guests flag higher room and meal prices, occasional chilliness when doors are kept open, and uneven service or presentation. Overall, the Argyll Hotel reads like a beloved local watering hole—full of character, warming food and sea‑side personality, best appreciated by those who enjoy authentic pub hospitality rather than polished fine dining.

Didn't feel comfortable at all here. Strange atmosphere, we only stayed for 1 drink and left ! Cant really think of any positive to say !
During our visit, my wife and I made a reservation for dinner at this restaurant. Unfortunately, we were not impressed with the expensive, uninspiring, and bland food and wine. We also observed one of the bar staff removing smudges from a glass with their fingers, which was quite off-putting. Overall, our experience was not very pleasant.
Me and my boyfriend visited here for dinner the other night while completing NC500. We booked ahead for a table and when arriving the bar area looked lovely and cosy. However, we were disappointed to be walked through the bar area (which had spare tables...
Only came in here to have a couple of drinks , very Covid friendly, kept doors open, prob for air coming in , so was chilly inside . Think you are allowed to have doors shut now . Nice place, staff and drinks were good...

The food was good, but would of liked a bit more space between tables, a bit cramped
Friendly place with a local pub ambience. Nothing fancy just good tasty food, decent sized portions, and efficient helpful attentive staff. We really enjoyed our visit and would definitely go back there.
A really good meal in a nice pub. They were short staffed when we went, but the food came quite quickly and was good and hot. The service was excellent and the staff friendly.
Food very good. Dining area quite chaotic, though may be related to stad shortages

Alarm was set without a reason, the hotel is old and out dated, it's becomes a pub at 1 am and you can hear EVERYTHING from the other side of the wall! Rooms: 2 Service: 2 Location: 3
Can't fault the reception, the drink, the food and the hospitality Needs a bit of an update, but the manager knows this and knows it can't be rushed at this little gem Food drinks: Great local drinks at the bar, amazing local smoked salmon for breakfast Rooms: 3 Service: 5 Location: 5 Hotel highlights: Great value
The worst experience in our life. I went with my family to do the NC500. The rooms and hotel are very old and all the rooms, toilet and restaurant not really clean. The service very poor when we are going to sit on the table all of them were dirty and we need to ask for clean and to be serviced. They never come back to ask if we want something more and all is good... but it is small problem that come after that. Time to go to sleep, the staff not the customers) were doing party dowstairs until 1,30-2,00 a.m. After that, that they were drunk or sleepy they left a airfryer on and at 2,30 the hotel was in flames. Can you imagine how is our situation? All our personal things in the hotel passport and clothes for our trip and we came from diferent country) after everyone went out the hotel and the fireman's came we were on the street cold and wearing pijamas. After 1 hour they give us room in another hotel. The day after the management did not come at 1st time in the morning or at that night to contact the guest to talk... I hope the management get this seriously to resolve big issue that they have in the company because next time you can kill people for keep people no responsable and doing parties in your bussines.

It's always great to find vegan options on a menu somewhere in the middle of nowhere, and it's even better if they turn out to be good dishes instead of just some excuse of a meal. I would recommend going to Argyll Hotel if you're staying in or around Ullapool, but I wouldn't make the trip just for the food.

Menu was not much for the price Not much choice a couple if the dishes were not available
Very limited menu nothing of my choice. Place was worn, tired and needs a completely renovated nothing like the online photos. A drunk lady who crashes into me didn't help me improve my vision.
A nice meal, very pleasant staff. On arrival we were advised, it can be a delay for our food. We were surprised at the speed our food arrived after the warning. The food was really hot.
We had a lovely dinner starting with Cullen skink and haggis bon bons, followed by the Highland burger and fish and chips. Everything was delicious, and the staff was pleasant and efficient. The bartender gave us some excellent drink recommendations.
