The food at this restaurant is outstanding. We tried the Number 1 dish, and I'm hooked! It offers genuinely authentic Mexican flavors, along with exceptional service. I suggest getting there early to snag the best table. Also, be sure to try the drinks – I really enjoyed the strawberry one. Overall, my experience was fantastic, and I'm already looking forward to my next visit!
Last week, we went to Tyler State Park and chose to try some local food, so we ate at Ruby's. The food was quite good, though I now see that I should have mentioned my dairy allergy when ordering, since I typically like cheese in my tacos. The portion sizes were generous, and our meals came out quickly.
I've been on the hunt for a great Mexican restaurant in Tyler since October 2021. As a Latina from Chicago, where authentic Mexican eateries are everywhere, it's been challenging to find a place that compares. However, THIS PLACE is absolutely amazing! I ordered the Doblados (Birria carne asada tacos) with rice and beans, and it was phenomenal. Initially, I was surprised by the price of the meal, but once I tasted the food, I realized it was well worth it because the flavors are outstanding! I've tried several Mexican restaurants in Tyler, including Mexico Lindo, Don Juan's (both locations), Jalapeño Tree, and Villa Montez, just to name a few. While some of those places have decent carne asada plates, nothing really comes close to this experience! You have to give them a try! It’s worth noting that the staff seems to be primarily teenagers, but they checked on us several times to see if we needed anything. The service was great, and the food was even better!
I visited Ruby's Mexican on a Sunday after 4 PM, so be aware they close at 5. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. I tried Lupe's plate and the Balderos, and both were excellent. I also highly recommend the coconut Agua Fresca. The food arrived promptly, and everything was fresh and tasty.
The staff was friendly, and the Mexican food was authentic. I ordered the guisado de puerco verde, but unfortunately, there were many bones and not much meat. Despite that, I'm willing to give it another shot because I really love this dish and it's hard to find in Tyler. I just wish it came with potatoes!
