Disappointment three was that the potato wasn't actually stuffed; it only had maybe a tablespoon of sour cream on a large potato and very little shredded cheese. I ended up adding more cheese myself. And for the fourth disappointment, the brisket on top of the potato was also bland and dry, prompting me to add more of my own barbecue sauce again. I suspect this place prepares its food in town and brings it to the park on weekends to sell out of what once was the park's discovery center. It's a nice concept, but unfortunately, the food lacks flavor. Even the homemade peach cobbler and ice cream were tasteless—certainly not what you’d expect, as even a Banquet brand dessert would have had more peach flavor. On the bright side, I didn't have to cook, and the lady behind the counter was nice, plus the prices were reasonable. I've heard that their main location in Turkey, Texas, has better food according to reviews, so perhaps my experience here was just an off day.
The food was exceptional, the service was top-notch, and the prices were perfectly reasonable for what you received. It was a fantastic experience!
This is the best BBQ I've had in a very long time—truly outstanding smoked flavor from real wood smoke! There's no need for BBQ sauce when the meat is this delicious! The service was quick, and my meal was ready in no time. I can't wait to return! There was plenty of meat, and I didn’t encounter any chunks of fat like you often find at other BBQ places, which I really appreciated! I just wish I lived closer so I could enjoy this BBQ more often!
My only issue is with the hours, especially since I'm from the city. We had a lot of meat for the family—the burgers are fantastic, and the chicken is great too. The service is consistently excellent. Make sure to ask for Shanlee! By the way, they also sell propane. The food is amazing, and this is the restaurant located inside Caprock Canyon State Park.
