I thought I would have one of the best evening dinner experiences of my life, but the decoration is unfortunately the food. traditional Mexican cuisine, but most dishes are frozen and micro-waves so tasteful is almost none.
I have no idea what some of the other reviewers are talking about, eating in cetli is enormous. the chile en nogada increases comfort food to a sublime level, with complex and interesting taste profiles. the service was top-notch, low-key and attentive, a warm. Smiling came with every cold margarita and they could say the cook and the server were proud of what they created and present. this is a place that knows what it is to create in which tradition is rooted and brings a modern sensibility to any plate that puts it on our table. my wife and I loved the experience up down. that is a must in tulum
Such an underwhelming experience. We’re into our food and after seeing this place on TripAdvisor, we thought that we had to see what all the fuss was about. I have to say, we weren’t blown away by the photos from previous guests but we went...in with a completely open mind ready to be pleasantly surprised. It was pretty poor, in all honesty. The house speciality was actually OK and had some surprising flavours but everything else was so below par that it meant the whole experience was poor. The chicken breast in both mole dishes we had were dry enough so that you could see the muscle fibres in the breast when you cut it. We had to complain and I HATE complaining. I have to say, the setting is beautiful… Very quaint and authentic, something that you won’t find in many places it has heaps of potential but potential is where it ends. We wasn’t expecting fine dining, we was just expecting authentic food with bold flavours and great cookery but the cookery was genuinely shocking. Our two main courses, I genuinely wouldn’t have served to friends at a gathering, the chicken was that dry. Such a shame because I say, the place has potential. Very confused with the amazing reviews though… Don’t know if we went on a bad night or what but it was probably one of the worst food experiences we’ve had.
Excellent food and service in a quaint setting. Had margaritas and delicious mole dishes and a fantastic desert. Will definitely return next time we visit Tulum!
