The Memorial location is pretty much as I remember e... read more Finally made it to to Nelson's off Memorial. Last time I was here it was on Boston Ave many many years ago. The Memorial location is pretty much as I remember except the parking is better (not much). You go to the counter and order, had to go with the chicken fry with potatoes and green beans. Wife had the chicken fry chicken sandwich with mac n cheese. Both were excellent along with the very good gravy. Potatoes were a little runny for my preference but were still tasty. Mac-n-cheese was very good and made with real cheddar cheese.  This is a place where you check your calorie counter at the door. Service is good and the deserts (pies) are very good also.

They have a live band usually on Friday. This is serious home cooking. Cracker Barrel can't hold a candle to this gem. Get there for lunch around 11 because they fill up quick and food starts to run out because they close at 2pm. That's right they are only open from 7am-2pm Mon-Fri. They are packed between those hours and sell enough amazing food to not have to work 12 hour days. Same people working everyday. The same people that have made it a priority to cook and serve the best food available. Don't go here if you on a diet. It will ruin your experience or your diet. Lol. This is the place you bring a friend or a family member to try something that they probably forgot existed. Everything is from scratch. To replicate this kind of food would cost too much also you would be cooking for hours and it still wouldn't be Nelson's. If you don't like Nelson's then there must be something wrong with you. They serve breakfast which is also above the usual.
