Was Nelda Beer at Blue Rose Cafe a mag?
Without a doubt Blue Rose Cafe has the best burgers, sandwiches and salads. Inside, the eclectic infused atmosphere of wall hanging artwork is as vidid in color as its random mix of the profoundly odd. Outside, a very pleasant riverside patio-deck dining with marvelous sunsets, and sometimes with actual water in the river. However, the very best part of dining at the Blue Rose are the waitresses and waiters who are s... View all feedback.
What Hubert Tromp dislikes about Blue Rose Cafe:
The service at this restaurant was terrible, and the manager was unhelpful. We chose the Blue Rose for my son's farewell dinner, and it was quite a large gathering, about 15 people. My wife had called a few weeks in advance to confirm that they could accommodate such a big group, and we made a reservation for 1 PM, providing our contact information. We arrived on time and placed our orders.
After about half an hour,... View all feedback.
We love the Blue Rose mainly for the ambiance and the view from the deck. The food is good but the menu is very limited. Great drinks and good entertainment on the weekends.
Service was awful, and the manager was flat out rude. Went to the Blue Rose for a graduation lunch for my son. It was a fairly large party, about 15 people. My wife called ahead a couple of weeks ago to make sure they could accommodate a large group. We were told no problem, and made reservations for 1 PM and left our contact information. We arrive on time and proceeded to order. Over the course of the next half hour or so, a majority of our table receive our food. After about forty-five minutes or so, the waitress comes over and apologizes for the rest of us not receiving our food, and assures us that it would out shortly. Another 30 minute pass...still no food. Part of party that has received no food decides to cancel their order. I'm pretty hungry, not to mention my son, whose party this is, hasn't received his food either, so we decide to just get our food to go. Some of my party decide to go inside and see if they could speak to the manager. After all of this, apparently the manager told members of our group that it was Mother's Day and the kitchen was doing the best they could. That's no excuse for a wait of over an hour for our food. He didn't even apologize for the delay. Wait another 10-15 minutes...still no food. My party asks for the checks. Much to the surprise of no one, the checks came immediately. The server had the audacity to set a check down in front of me. I have no food, but I have a check. Let me repeat, I was given my check before I even got my food. After waiting for nearly an hour and half from when I ordered. That was the last straw. I told the waitress that I'm cancelling my order and asked to speak to the manager myself. I told the situation to the manager, and he basically said, "well, we canceled your order for you, what more do you want?" Realistically, I wanted my food. He then began to go on a tirade about how busy they were today because it was Mother's Day. That's no excuse for waiting an hour and a half for our food. I told him that he should have personally come out to talk to us and explain the delay, which you know, is generally the restaurant managers job. He said, "well, I'm talking to you now." I again, reiterated how he should have came to us personally to talk to us. He pointed to part of my party and said "well, I talked to them." Yes, but that was after they flagged him down. He then asked, "so, you want me to come out and talk to you instead of being in the kitchen trying to get your food out?" Seems like he was doing a poor job of that. I then mentioned how we had a reservation, so its not like they weren't expecting us. "Well, we don't really take reservations, and I spoke to the server about that," as if that excuses the poor service. Essentially trying to make it sound as if its our fault for having the audacity to come on Mother's Day, calling ahead to make sure they could accommodate our large party, and getting fed up after waiting forever for our food. If making reservations was such an issue, then why didn't someone call us? We left contact information. Needless to say, a celebratory family dinner was ruined by poor service, an inattentive kitchen staff, and a rude manager who really should be in another line of work. I've enjoyed the Blue Rose Cafe in the past, both the food and the service, but today was a horrible experience, I will never go back, and I will be sure to tell everyone that I know about my experience.

We ordered cheese fries and the original burger. Although the burger bun was burned and the cheese fries were cold I give four stars due to the manager. She did the right thing to comp our meal and explained they were going through a transitional periodwith kitchen staff and wait staff. Asked us to please come back again and give them another chance. And, we will. GreatManager!
Love coming here Thursday nights for Karaoke and $5 chicken tender platter. I forgot my my debit card and did not have enough to cover the meal with the cash I had on me. The server was very sweet and attentive. Completely helped us out and didn?t charge usfor the tea. Making the total enough to cover with the cash I had. Excellent customer service to begin with.
