My... read more Service was awful, and the manager was flat out rude. Went to the Blue Rose for a graduation lunch for my son. It was a fairly large party, about 15 people. My wife called ahead a couple of weeks ago to make sure they could accommodate a large group. We were told no problem, and made reservations for 1 PM and left our contact information. We arrive on time and proceeded to order. Over the course of the next half hour or so, a majority of our table receive our food. After about forty-five minutes or so, the waitress comes over and apologizes for the rest of us not receiving our food, and assures us that it would out shortly. Another 30 minute pass...still no food. Part of party that has received no food decides to cancel their order. I'm pretty hungry, not to mention my son, whose party this is, hasn't received his food either, so we decide to just get our food to go. Very nice view of... read more I went to the Blue Rose the first time this week with my coworkers who had been there before. The restaurant, inside and outside, looks good. Very nice view of the Arkansas River. However, the general area is kind of shady, which I already knew. When we arrived, there were 2 vagrants on the park benches. I'm fine with them, but I have to be honest about the ambiance and area, and they did take away some points. Our waitress seemed discombobulated and had quite a bit of difficulty telling us what the specials were. 2 of my coworkers ordered iced tea, and they were two completely different strengths of tea. Such that one of them had to send the tea back, and she still got charged (they fixed it on the ticket eventually). I had the blackened chicken fingers with orange marmalade. Overlooking the appearance of the chicken fingers (sorry, looks like deep fried poo), the spice rub was good. The chicken was juicy and the marmalade was oddly tasty. The marmalade had something spicy/savory like horseradish, and I detected something that tasted like mint. The house ranch dressing was not impressive. Tasted like it had generic taco seasoning in it. I tried my coworkers' chicken fried steak, which was a large portion. There was nowhere enough gravy for the dish, to the point that everyone at the table commented on it. The mashed potatoes were real potatoes and were good. I have to say the loaded cheese fries were a nice option - the fries were cooked so well! They used to give out plastic souvenir cups with drink orders, which they did not on this date. My coworkers who had been there before said their menu prices were raised, and they have removed some items from the menu. One of my coworkers had the Blue Rose Classic Burger for almost $10. They were not happy at all and said the meat tasted like it had been frozen. I doubt I will be back to the Blue Rose, unless they make some major changes.
