Tim Horton's - Troy
Tim Horton's
Description
Tim Hortons in Troy is a convenient, roadside stop with a tidy dining area, friendly morning staff and a speedy drive‑thru popular with commuters, travelers and dog owners. Coffee and baked goods satisfy many, though iced‑coffee quality is inconsistent and service can range from very warm to brusque. App payment restrictions and occasional cup‑size or cup‑marking issues frustrate guests. It’s a comfortable fast‑casual option for familiar favorites if you’re willing to accept some variability in drinks and service.

I want to like this place so badly, but the coffee is just so inconsistent. I order a double-double iced vanilla coffee every time. I’m pretty chill if there’s a little variability. However, sometimes it’s perfect, other times it’s WAY too sweet, or barely sweet at all, or watery, or it barely has any ice. I just don’t get it. I do drive out of my way to this one though because the other one in Troy is even less consistent. Everything else seems fine but I find myself more disappointed than satisfied. The last time I went I got grounds. I think I’m done with this place. Four Month Update: I went ahead and tried again. Same. Just didn’t taste good, although no grounds. Also, not their fault, but why do I have to load money on a card, rather than just pay directly on the app with a card or ApplePay? I had a free bagel on the app too. This made me order at the drive thru instead, but my free bagel wouldn’t register when I scanned my app, so it’s all pointless.
When it came time to pay, the young man told me that my card was declined. I have a company card with a high limit, and he attempted to process it three times without success. This is actually the second time this has happened to me at this location. Instead of being straightforward about not wanting to sell me the donuts, they claimed my card couldn't be processed. Frustrated, I went to Dunkin' instead and spent $100 without any issues or negativity. The staff at this donut shop were rude and clearly uninterested in making a sale. I won’t be returning and hope the owner will consider training their employees to be more courteous and attentive to customers.
My husband and I went through the drive-thru and ordered two iced coffees. Unfortunately, we weren't greeted at all, and both of our coffees were watered down, as if they had been prepared long before we arrived. The only positive note was that the lady handed us two extra straws, which made us laugh a little.
