Contribute Feedback What Derek G doesn't like about Alice's:
Remember when Alice's used to be good? Remember when they actually had real food? Now everything there is overpriced and such bad quality. $6.00 for a flatbread??? When I was a freshman (okay, that was only 2 years ago) it was around $5. Plus the workers at Alice's are highly apathetic and don't seem to care about the customers. I once ordered an iced coffee and there were grounds in my coffee. I asked them to make i... View all feedback.
This place is the most convenient spot on campus for grabbing a snack, drink, or meal. Its central location and extended hours—open until 2 AM every day—make it a great choice whether you're at the library, meeting someone, or just need a quick bite (although “quick” isn’t always guaranteed). I do wish they opened before 9 AM, though. The food is average, but there’s a broad selection of drinks, and the snack offerings change monthly, with some choices being quite good and others not so great. The service can be slow, and the lines can get frustratingly long, sometimes taking 30-40 minutes. The most popular sandwich is the Caprese, which is pretty decent. Personally, I’d prefer dining at Heubec or Stimson, even though they can also be inconsistent and tiring if you frequent them daily. Still, Alice's is super convenient for a quick snack or drink—just be prepared for the possibility of a long wait.
Do you remember when Alice's was a great place to eat? Back when they actually served good food? Now, it feels like everything is overpriced and of low quality. $6.00 for flatbread? When I was a freshman just two years ago, it was around $5. To make things worse, the staff at Alice's seem indifferent and uninterested in the customers. I once ordered an iced coffee and found grounds in it. Even after I asked for a fresh one, it still contained coffee grounds. And for $5? That's way too much for iced coffee! Even the Starbucks across from Goucher College offers iced coffee for less. Come on, Alice's! You really need to step up your game. We're just college students and shouldn’t have to pay so much for bagels and flatbread sandwiches.
The staff occasionally close the restaurant 30 to 40 minutes ahead of schedule, so don’t rely on it being open until 3. It's best to order your food earlier to avoid disappointment.
The staff is always exceptional, and the service is excellent. However, there seems to be a deficiency in management, as the quality of the food has noticeably dropped lately. I saw a manager rummaging through the dumpster for food and then bringing it back to the kitchen, which is quite disturbing. Considering this along with recent reports of food poisoning in the dining hall, I am truly worried.
Best cinnamon rolls.
