great place with the best desserts that are always made and freshly served with the help of a really nice and friendly staff to not mention the very fast and punctual service. View all feedback.
What Lynda F dislikes about Trade:
No menu outside so we went in..it seems a trendy sort of place unlike the menu. Very expensive and poorly cooked. Two poached eggs on thinly sliced sourdough were overcooked. Roll with one rasher of streaky bacon, an overcooked hard yolk fried egg, no choice of poached) some barely visible cheese, 2 small Americano .complaints were brushed off with total apathy. Good quality and service no resemblance to the breakfas... View all feedback.

Trade is the best run venue for coffee in London. Quite simply, there is nowhere as good (I have tried finding it on those rare moments when Trade is closed for business). What makes Trade unique is that it doesn't ever really change: in this case meaning that the highest standards are impeccably maintained for (apparently) eternity! When you develop a fondness for the very particular vibe, with the exceptional coffee preparation that is unbelievably consistent complemented by the outstanding food, you'll simply not want to go anywhere else. And this is just what has happened to me. And all of this is of course down to the amazing staff and the superbly talented management.
As 4 of us were walking in, the barista barked can you shut the door (no please) before the 4th person actually came in. We asked to go outside to the back (because one of us is on chemo and immunocompromised). It was completely empty but he said there was a 15 minute wait! This rude service isn 't the norm at this cafe but today was very disappointing.
We visited here after booking a breakfast table nearby to our hotel in Spitalfields area. The restaurant was bustling but tables were very very close together too close I would say. We waited 45 minutes for our food and then saw people who ordered after us receiving their food. I asked a member of staff where ours was, and then watched a series of events which made it clear the server had not put our order through at all! We were offered complimentary cakes but still waited another 15 minutes for our food, by which time some tables had ordered, eaten and left! They suggested the kitchen ‘didn’t get the ticket’ rather than being honest about the fact he had forgotten while hugging his colleagues and drinking his own coffee. The food when it came was very enjoyable and some of the other things on the menu looked lovely too. We were given our drinks on the house but still tried to charge me a service charge of 12.5% on the bill which I politely asked them to remove! Nice food but service was poor and a bit of honesty would have gone a long way!
What an absolute gem of a place. We went in with a hungry teen after a trip to nearby Van Gogh experience. Quickly seated and orders taken. Tap water and drinks delivered quickly followed by buttermilk pancakes with syrup and choc chips and bananas for the teen. Delicious poached eggs on toast for me and cheese toasties for hubby. Prices as one would expect for the area. Owner and staff attentive and fantastic and good facilities. Loved it xxx
My partner and I visited this cafe during a weekend trip to London. We were drawn in by the enticing smells emanating from the kitchen as we strolled around the city. Although we arrived near closing time, we couldn't resist taking home a couple of desserts from their display. We chose the blueberry and coconut cake and the oat and raisin cookie, both of which were delicious. The blueberry cake was our favorite, with a delectable icing in the middle. The next morning, we returned for brunch and enjoyed two dirty chai lattes, a Cuban club sandwich, and buttermilk pancakes with banana, chocolate chips, peanut butter, and maple syrup. The portions were generous and satisfying. We explored other cafes in the area but ultimately returned to Trade for more desserts to enjoy after a concert - this time trying the carrot cake and chocolate and date bar, both of which were equally delicious. The staff, including Louise, were all friendly and accommodating, especially when we asked to share our dishes. We would definitely return if we find ourselves in the area again.

We came over for breakfast on our way to the coffee festival. As a gluten intolerant foodie, it was pleasant to find alternatives, as well as being a...

Trade is, I think, a bit of a local’s secret. I was meeting a friend for brunch (my breakast as I had only just got up, his lunch) and had planned to go to Hotbox but just thought I’d check out the menu for Trade and suddenly thought I wanted to try that instead. When I arrived I walked right in and was just behind two other people. There wasn’t really a queue. Two minutes later and one practically stretched out the door!
I have heard so many good things about this place, so I decided to give him an attempt to get to the breakfast. I had the chocolate chip pancakes with blueberries and avocado syrup and the avocado toast. the pancakes are mouthwater, fluffy and very juicy that I love! really beautiful place and I love the fact that they pay her first
Having spent most weekends I lived in London in Trade it was only fitting I returned when I was nearby. Trade is everything you want in a cafe, great coffee, quality food, relaxed atmosphere and a lovely deck out the back that catches great sunlight in the summer. The menu is simple, personal favourites being the green eggs and ham and the buttermilk pancakes. Any of the sandwiches are also always a hit. As well as the menu items there is an unrelenting array of cake and pastries of which I only ever sampled a fraction of them. Table service only on weekends, weekdays just order at the counter and take your numbered spoon down to your table. Enjoy! I'm already jealous that you're near enough to Trade to be considering dropping in!
Trade does a hell of a lot of things right. It's walkable from the City, it's staff are really lovely and there a pretty sizeable garden area out the back so you can lounge in the sunshine during the stifling summer heat. I went there for lunch with the missus a few weeks back and really enjoyed the atmosphere of the place which pretty much fulfils the blueprint for a nice cafe to sit as catchup. For food, I had a pork and apple burger/sandwich thingy and a beautiful brownie. This pork and apple is the only reason I'm not giving Trade 5/5 because, although good, the sandwich as rather slaw heavy being the culinary philistine I am, the meat is more important than the veg. Overall though, it's a really nice cafe for a meet up and a meal will definitely return.
Find this little Gem and be transported into an oasis of gastronomic heaven. It 's warm and friendly and a delight to be in. The food is absolutely fantastic, I cannot fault anything they serve. The old saying is 'You Pay for what you Get ' well, Trade have gone beyond this, the food is crafted by some very special people and I cannot recommend this place enough. Simon G.R Adams
