Our daughter was acting as our guide in Toronto and booked reservations at this restaurant ahead because it was not very big and did not have a lot of tables. We were seated and looked after promptly. The food was very good and was served in a timely manner. The staff were very helpful and efficient. A man was shucking oysters nearby if diners were ordering. Well run and very good food. Not a very big menu but everything ordered was great. Hard to find though. Hidden away on a side street.
Visited twice, seems like a busy place, enjoyed there fresh oysters, beer selection seems to be less.
This is potentially an excellent restaurant, although portions are small and prices relatively high. The food quality was very good and the table service was of a reasonable standard. It is small and has a nice ambience. What does let it down is, as mentioned in several other reviews, the rude and unhelpful attitude of the lady who "meets and greets" and generally hovers in the background. On many occasions, this might not be an issue but I would certainly recommended some people skill training for her if the restaurant want to retain customers.
Small but upscale oyster house located downtown, hiding in a narrow side street called Temperance, just behind Hudson’s Bay (Queen and Bay.)It’s bar atmosphere with counter seats and high chairs, cosy and neat. Simple menu with fish and chips, scallop, main dish of tuna or cod, beef, lobster roll with salad. Appetizers included lamb, lobster tail, mini burger, moules, and soup. Salad and sandwiches available at lunch time.We came as two and ordered some appetizers and soup. The crispy fried smelt($13) and the grilled jerk clamari $(16) were great for beer. The clam chowder (New England style,$13 )was in generous portion with lots of potato, creamy but tasty, not too thick. The oysters recommended by the waitress was pretty good, though small but sweet, and it was so affordable at the happy hour. The young lady who served us was friendly and helpful. Certainly will add this place on my “Happy Hour” list, but I’ll go at the right time to avoid the crowd.
If you like oysters and a drink then this may be the place. If you are looking for a larger sea food menu then suggest you go to other restaurants. While other reviews have complained about service ours was fine. The fish and chips were somewhat greasy (oil must not have been hot enough). Soft Shell Crab was small and would have expected two on the plate.
This downtown oyster house offers a variety of fresh seafood dishes in a cozy and upscale setting. While the food received positive reviews, the service was consistently criticized for being slow and sometimes rude. The oyster selection was praised, but other seafood options were said to be limited. Overall, the restaurant is recommended for oyster lovers who appreciate a laid-back atmosphere and great cocktails.

Great food and service. But way overpriced fish and chips $26 for two small pieces of fish! My local fish n' chips place has better fish for a fraction of the price. Beet Salad again, overpriced for the quantity of food. Oysters were completely worth the price! Wow!
Aside from a some rude walk-in customers trying to get ahead of a few groups with reservations (us included) everything was wonderful for it being Valentine’s Day and how busy it can get. Our server was knowledgeable about wine and oysters and checked in often. This is definitely going in as one of my favourite birthday dinners because it was delicious and not overly Valentines-y which is why I usually avoid going out on the actual day.
Lovely slice of the east coast in the heart of downtown Toronto. I go here when I'm craving high quality comfort food. Reminds me of Halifax. Not an Oyster fan but everyone I've brought there says they're amazing.
Food was excellent, service was a little slow but IMO they were understaffed for servers. Would return again!
Absolutely wonderful food and service. Quaint restaurant that is comfy. A bit loud as it is a smaller restaurant, but very lovely!

Oyster oysters oysters!! You can't go wrong if you decide to dinate here. Beautiful ambience, great food at a reasonable price (lobster roll was for just $30) and friendly service. A Must Go To Play
4.5/5 Great place to visit after a long day in the office. The ambience is warm and relaxing. The food was delicious. Good use of spices and herbs. Yum! The servers were attentive and pleasant. Would definitely return!
I took a quick lunch here with a friend and the service was excellent. I have a caesar that was excellent. For food we have selected oysters (from the Fanny Boy oysters), shrimp cocktail, tuna tars, lobster roll and fish tacos. Everything was delicious, fresh and the portion sizes were great.
This restaurant is definitely one of my top 5 in the Greater Toronto Area. Our dinner experience was fantastic from beginning to end. The servers were very attentive and provided excellent care. I will absolutely be returning.
The food and service here were absolutely fantastic! We ordered the lobster roll and the special of the day, and both were incredible! It was one of the best meals I've ever had! Our waitress, Kuku, was truly wonderful and a great asset to the restaurant!

I grabbed lunch with a friend there on a weekday, and the place was quite busy. However, it didn't really feel like a spot for dining. The tuna was one of their recommendations, but I was a bit let down by the deep-fried tomatoes paired with it and the tuna itself was rather ordinary. My friend ordered the lobster roll and thought it was just okay. It seems like a nice place to grab a drink, but unfortunately, not the best choice for food.
Great little spot off the main drag. At the suggestion of my Canadian colleague tried a Caesar shot, if you're into that this is a good place to get one. Lobster poutine was amazing! Would definitely recommend a visit.
Food was excellent and was well worth it. The oysters, tuna, and lobster poutine was delicious. The clam chowder is a little watery for me but still very tasty. Lobster roll and fish and chips were great too. Very friendly service.
We enjoyed some delicious oysters sourced from various regions across Canada, from British Columbia to Newfoundland, with a wide selection of toppings to choose from. My favorite was the scotch bonnet pepper sauce. For our main courses, we ordered the scallops, which were beautifully caramelized and packed with flavor, along with the risotto. Both dishes were absolutely fantastic. We also indulged in their sticky toffee pudding, which was incredibly rich. As visitors from Ireland, we really appreciated the warm and welcoming atmosphere here—especially the octopus wall art! John and Sons Oyster House, located in the heart of Toronto, is truly a hidden gem.
The food tasted great but I felt like the portions were small with the risotto. They didn’t have cocktails but a nice large selection of wine. Overall it was ok.
