We had made plans for the New Year's Eve evening, but had... read more New Years' in Toronto: We were in Toronto for my wife's Birthday, which just happens to be Dec. 31st. We had made plans for the New Year's Eve evening, but had one objective in mind for the 30th: John and Sons Oyster House!! We had...been two John and Sons before and so enjoyed ourselves with the fresh seafood and, especially, the OYSTERS A weakness!!! that we had to take this opportunity of returning to Toronto to go back for more!. We arrived at the appointed time for our 4:30 reservation suggested if you are coming late afternoon or later on the afternoon before New Year’s. Our arrival was a remarkable experience as Sara h? greeted us like long lost friends, taking us to a booth in the front window where we were able to spread out for the coming feast. I’ll go with Sara as it is the name of a fave aunt. She took our order for a dozen oysters and brought us a special treat on the occasion of Eva’s Birthday! Nice. That sure made us feel more than welcome! Thanks, John! We couldn’t decide on which of two wines we wanted so Sara brought us a small sample of each to help us choose. We selected a nice, crisp Pinot Grigio from the western Veneto region. The wine arrived, properly chilled, and in a chiller. Our oyster plate was a perfect appetizer. We had decided that, instead of appetizer and 2 mains, we would go with the Tuna Tartar absolutely best we've ever had. It was so much better than the ones that we were served the next evening at another restaurant on New Year's Eve and the Lamb Sliders, figuring we could go with the Lobster Sliders if we need more. Not Necessary!!! The seasoning of the perfectly diced Tuna and the Jalapeño-Ginger paste lines on the serving plate for dressing and the very thin Taro flour chips hit it!! The Lamb Sliders are offered with three sliders. Sara suggested we add an extra slide so we didn't have to share the odd one. The Lamb was just right. The seasoning of the ground lamb, and the flavour of the lemon Goat Cheese, the Balsamic Red Onion relish, Cucumber and Arugula on the sliders was another hit. The two appetizers were wonderful and more than enough for the two of us. Sara's care, and the wonderful fare one finds every time at John and Sons will keep us coming back, as often as we can get to Toronto… Another reason for this is my wife should be called a “Pescatarian as, given the chance, she would heat seafood at all the time! So, John and Sons does it all for her, too! John and Sons Oyster House is a treat in every sense of the word. Thank you to, John, and, especially, Sara!
