Tina was our server and she was fabulous. Knowledgeable, attentive and fun. The food, ambience and service was great. We went before going to Soulpepper Theatre and were not rushed to get to a 7:30 performance. We will certainly go back!! View all feedback.
What Nancy McCartney doesn't like about Pure Spirits:
It was our first time in Toronto and while we found the Distillery district on the map, It was difficult to find the restaurant. First we went to a different place with a similar name and they mis-directed us so it was frustrating. It was a Thursday evening in October and the place was barely half full whereas the Mexican place across the alley was hopping. However, we wanted seafood and the food was very good. I had... We arrived at the Distillery District in time for lunch and randomly picked this place. We started with a selection of oysters, simply because they were there. All of our choices were from the east coast and we were not disappointed with any of them....Our luncheon mains were amply and original. I had the lobster crab roll which was a great lunch choice. Washed down with a bottle from a very good wine selection, and because everything else was so good, a dessert as well.
Great ambiance. Amazing seafood. Mussels and scallops were delicious. The service was excellent. Our server was Tina M. Definitely recommend this gem!
Our family were celebrating our Christmas eve, and it was completely ruined by this terrible restaurant. My son wanted to have more oysters after his dinner, so I ordered it before 6:20 pm because they said that was the last call. However, even long after...we finished our dinner, the oysters had not been served yet. Because the server told us that the oysters were coming soon while he was taking away the empty dishes, and because the first oyster plate took very very long to be served, we waited and waited. But when I finally asked him how much longer it would take, he acted surprised and told us he never got the order from us. He said that the kitchen was now closed, so they could not serve them any more. The manager came but he didn't seem to believe us. He asked me whom we asked for it. The server was insisting or lying that he didn't get any order for the additional oyster plate. Was he really dumb or was he covering his mistake? The manager was believing the server and treating me as someone who was complaining to cheat them out of more food or money, because he asked me if we wanted some free desserts or teas! How rude he was!! Now I am even thinking that they probably were working as a team to prevent customers from ordering oysters on half-price Tuesdays to cut their losses To be honest, the oysters served as a Tuesday special were not that great. The quality was really worth one dollar, nothing more or nothing less! . The experience with them was absolutely terrible, and probably that was why this restaurant was left for reservation in the open table website until the last moment on Christmas eve. How funny was it that I felt lucky when I found a restaurant to be able to reserve on a Christmas eve? It eventually turned out that I was very unlucky to find this place. I paid over $320 in total including 16% tip, and our Christmas eve was totally ruined! PS: we started with a dirty contaminated knife and when I ordered 20 oysters, I found that they only brought 18 oysters. It was kind of sketchy, especially because the server did not react surprised or count the oysters when we informed him of the mistake. Was everything happening tonight related to oyster order really coincidence? No. I dont think so. It is very sketchy place. Watch out for this restaurant!
Superb family dinner last night. Our server (Michelle) was awesome helped us experience some great dishes and cater for GF needs. Highly recommend
We were lucky we couldn’t find a place at a restaurant next door to enjoy a great meal, great service and very accommodating staff at “pure Spirit” Tried the oysters were delicious, the fish n chips was excellent. Definitely recommended.
