Rising Sun - Torfaen
Rising Sun
Description
In recent reviews of a local restaurant, a stark divide emerges in dining experiences. While some patrons rave about the warm ambiance, attentive staff, and delectable dishes—highlighting exceptional Sunday lunches with tender meats and generous desserts—others recount significant disappointments, citing cold food, long waits, and poor meal quality. Several diners express frustration over limited vegetarian options and food inconsistencies, with some meals seeming reheated. However, glowing reports of delicious starters and stunning outdoor spaces suggest potential for a great outing. Ultimately, this venue appears to embody a blend of promise and pitfalls, leaving visitors with varied experiences.

I’m a fusspot when it comes to my steak, absolutely perfect cooked to my liking : over all a superb meal great staff, have the whole covid situation under control felt extremely safe comfortable
Our dining experience at this restaurant was extremely disappointing from start to finish. We had to wait a long time before our order was taken, and when our meals finally arrived, they were of very poor quality. The curry seemed to be made with tinned tomatoes and a hint of curry powder, and the chicken was not up to par. The poppadoms were stale and limp, and the burger was small and burnt on both sides. When we complained and sent our meal back to the kitchen, it was simply reheated and brought back out on the same plate. Even the chips still had the mayo and salt I had originally added before sending my meal back. Overall, the dining experience was subpar and disappointing.
I am not sure what has happened to the food at this restaurant. I have enjoyed some delicious meals here in the past, but my recent meal was terrible. There were only two vegetarian options available, and the veggie sausages were dry and tasteless. The menu used to be much better.
I planned to have lunch outdoors with a visiting friend on a beautiful summer day, but unfortunately the restaurant was not serving food that day. We had to ask for a recommendation for another local pub that serves lunch.
We've recently enjoyed a great Sunday lunch at this very warm and welcoming pub, the roast was full of a great selection of vegetables and even came with cauliflower cheese which was absolutely amazing. There was a great selection of meat with me and the wife settling on the beef and lamb, both meats were extremely succulent and melted in the mouth. We finished with a great cheesecake and a great sticky toffee pudding with both deserts being of a more than generous serving. Will be returning
