We have a place in Tobermory, so we don't go out for dinner much while we are here, partly because my daughter and I are vegetarian. It's not uncommon for us to struggle to find veggie options in small, touristy places - we get that they need to have the food on hand that will serve the biggest percentage of people that visit. That's why Ancient Cedars was such a nice surprise. We hadn't been there for years, mostly because we usually walk everywhere from our cottage, and Ancient Cedars is outside of town. We couldn't believe it when we found not one but TWO different veggie burger options, a veggie burrito option, veggie pasta and a vegetable korma on the menu! We actually had choices! They could make things vegan for us too! The service was great (the accommodated us even though a longer-than-expected afternoon hike had brought us to the restaurant just 30 minutes before closing time), everyone was really friendly, and the golf course is a lovely backdrop while you were eating. Prices were a bit high in the way that all tourist town restaurants have prices that are a bit high. My husband, a non-vegetarian, really enjoyed his burger as well. All in all, a great place to please a variety of different diets.

Really, really good food and a good choice for health conscious eaters. The seven wonders burger, for example, is an example of a massive vegetarian creation that is pretty good!

We went to this restaurant based on other TripAdvisor reviews. My husband was eager to try the sweet potato burrito, and my boys wanted to go because it was beside a mini putt. We went twice, mostly because it seemed to be the only non-pub-type restaurant in the area. The first time, my husband had the burrito, which was dry and not very flavorful. I had the chicken korma, which was good but undersalted, and served with really undercooked (actually crunchy) rice, which was inedible. They nicely took 50% off my food order, and in general showed good customer service. The kids had a hamburger (excellent) and macaroni and cheese with Caesar salad (good). The next time I ordered the Korean short ribs and noodles. The ribs were excessively fatty, and the noodles slimy and overcooked, not a very good meal overall. My husband ordered vegetable korma, which he liked well enough but found it underseasoned as well (the rice was cooked this time). The boys both ordered macaroni and cheese, but neither of them liked it much this time, and they were out of Caesar salad and neither of the boys liked the texture of the garden salad (the lettuce was hard to chew, even for me).Overall, it's a nice change from deep fried pub food, but not as great as we hoped. The hamburger was the best thing we tried, and was definitely popular as we saw from the orders going to the other tables.

restaurant was busy but we managed to find a table. The burger was huge and delicious, definitely worth the price. The service was friendly and efficient. Overall, a great experience and would highly recommend to anyone visiting Tobermory.

This restaurant was a great dining option. The hot sauce is not only used for heat, but also to enhance the flavor.
