What Elizabeth Bechtelar likes about The Black Cockatoo Cafe + Bar:
We had morning tea here on the way to Rainbow Beach. It was a pleasant surprise to find such a nicely decorated and trendy restaurant in Tin Can Bay as we hadn't been there for a few years. The staff were very friendly and the chef recommended the mango cheesecake which my husband said was incredible....very light and fluffy and clearly homemade. The fruit scones were yummy too. read moreAfter being closed for 18 months, this restaurant in Tin Can Bay has reopened under new ownership, but reviews are mixed. While some diners enjoyed the decor and delicious garlic bread, others were disappointed by the quality of the meals served. Complaints ranged from tough steak and mushy vegetables to inedible pancakes and undrinkable coffee. However, some diners did have positive experiences, praising the friendly staff, diverse menu, and excellent dishes like homemade fishcakes and red Thai fish curry. While the restaurant is not yet fully licensed, it seems that improvements are being made, and diners are hopeful for the future of this local spot.
