Had a great time, easy to walk around the island tons to see even if all the museums close around 2pm on weekdays, empty roads great weather, my girlfriend and I stayed at campsite #1 which was a 20 minute walk to and from Ayala cove, super spacious and comfortable. bear bins and water were at the main table I'd recommend bringing a small lock and bring layers for the night. This is the first time for our family to visit this place and it did not disappointed anyone. We drove to Tiburon and boarded the Ferry to Angel Island with tickets we purchased ahead to time from the their website. The plan was to hike around the perimeter but we decided to hike to the top instead. Some of the paths are narrow and you have to make way for other hikers going the opposite direction or for those that are faster than you. Some areas are very steep in my opinion but that didn't stop us. Overall, It was a great hike. Definitely will come back here again. You can bring your own mountain bike or rent one here. There's a designated bike path. There's only one Cafe in this place and they take advantage of it. A whole packaged Turket sandwich cost around $17+. We will plan to bring more food or snacks next time .
Incredible hike. Only about 1 hr, and you are at the top. You can see the entire SF city, east bay, and the bridges. Because everyone gets off the ferry and starts the hike at the same time, you need to hike fast to beat the crowd. There are picnic tables at the top.
Great weather!.. friendly staff and park rangers, informative Tram tour. Nice little Cafe to grab a snack and beverage. Great hikes to explore. Wonderful get away!
We took the ferry from San Francisco. We got to see porpoises on the way there. I highly recommend taking the tram tour that goes around the island to learn the importance of this place. During summer weekends there's live music at the cafe. I will definitely be back, maybe with a bike.
