The Falstaff - Thanet
The Falstaff
Description
The Falstaff restaurant offers a mixed dining experience, showcasing a charming atmosphere with attentive staff and an appealing menu. Many patrons enjoy the brunch options and commend the staff for accommodating various dietary needs. However, numerous reviews highlight significant disappointments, particularly in service and food quality, with reports of long waits, incorrect orders, and underwhelming meals. While some visitors appreciate the traditional Sunday roasts and casual atmosphere, others express frustration over misunderstandings regarding vegan and vegetarian dishes. Despite its potential, the establishment seems to struggle with consistency, leading to mixed feelings among its diverse clientele.

I would highly recommend this restaurant. The quiche and sandwiches were delicious and fresh. The service was excellent, the decor was tasteful and the atmosphere was relaxing. Additionally, they are dog-friendly.
This is a lovely pub/hotel in a nice street at the top of the town. The bar is very comfortable and we spent a nice evening with friends there. The restaurant is another room adjacent to the bar. Very relaxed We had a very good meal here and the choice was good and reasonably priced. Friendly helpful staff
After chatting with a couple of members from the Ramsgate Heritage Society who highly recommended the Falstaff, we decided to stop in for a sandwich. The place is charming and quirky, with a pub, cafe, and hotel all beautifully restored. Our coffee and sandwiches hit the spot, with the sourdough sandwiches being huge and delicious. Karen, the bartender, was friendly and even gave us a tour of the hotel, showing us the Wellington room and a regency room, as well as a bedroom and where to park. She is a wonderful representative for the establishment! The high quality photography adorning the walls adds to the ambiance. We are definitely considering coming back for a stay!
We have had lunch here on a Sunday twice. I really enjoyed my nut roast with all the trimmings the first time, so came back, but was a bit disappointed to have tomato sauce instead of gravy. A bit #first-world problems, I know, but v important for a vegetarian to be able to enjoy Sundays as much as the meat-eaters! The roast meats were reported v good and the veg were fine.
From the small bar area to the restaurant itself it had quite a nice clean warm environment. Each lunch course had enough choice to please without overdoing things, but we were a little disappointed that there was not even a small choice of fish dishes on their Catch of the Day , as was stated in their menu for the main course. We did ask if the chef had any fish available but unfortunately told there was only a breaded white fish that he could do, maybe we were just unlucky on the day.
