On our arrival we was welcomed by a young very friendly girl who showed us to a table ,ordered our drinks and food from the bar. Food was bought to the table by who we found out later was the owner. Food was fantastic price was reasonable, although the the place was very busy,Jo (the owner)found time to sit at the table and tell us a little bit about the restaurant bar and the area..... absolutely fantastic
This review covers two visits, the first late last summer and the second just after Christmas. First the BAD NEWS!!!!! We walked down to Millies last summer with a couple of friends, even though we had stopped going due to the previous attitude of the owner and the state of the place. We sat outside just as a large party left the table. It was covered in plates with the remnants of their meal and lots of half filled glasses along with a pool of melted ice cream under the table. I told our friends it would probably take half an hour for it to be cleaned was wrong it only took 25 minutes! The pool of ice cream was not touched. All this time the owner was parked on a table chatting to people totally oblivious to the state of the place there were several tables in the same state .Fast forward to just after Christmas. A bright, sunny afternoon and we decided to go for a walk. As we passed a very busy Millies we thought lets just have one. I went to the bar while the wife went to a table near the front where people were getting up. As i waited at the bar a young waitress went up to the table to tell my wife she could not sit there. My wife pointed out there was no reserved sign only to be told there were people waiting i don 't know where . As this was taking place the owner bustled pst saying ' oh this could be trouble '. The good lady wife conducted herself very well, bit her tongue gave me the nod and we walked out. The rudest owner i have met in one of the grubbiest bars i have been in and i 've been in a few! will not be seeing us ever again unless it is sold on to someone who has some idea how to look after a bar and treat people with a modicum of respect. Now for the GOOD NEWS!!!! Apparently Pavs cafe, opposite, has been bought by a local guy who has plenty experience of the trade and intends to turn it into a bar. This should be a great alternative to the other place and if his prices are only a little more reasonable than them it can only succeed. Good Luck to him.
Very rude, the other negative reviews echo what we experienced. We walked out and found another very pleasant welcoming cafe just up the road that lets dogs in and both the staff and food were lovely
The most miserable woman in the world works here. You’d think to work in a cafe you’d like people....or at the very least find them tolerable. We went on a Saturday morning, prime coffee/brunch time and the place was almost empty-it didn’t take long to find out why. Before we all went in my husband popped in while I waited outside to check it was ok to bring our dogs in and was told that was fine, so I came in with the dogs and the vile old battle axe immediately bore down upon us to let us know our dogs weren’t welcome. I said ok we’ll leave and started to walk out, she then followed me to the door to continue to have a go at me for coming in with the dogs. She then also had a go at my husband for not reading the sign on the door, my husband pointed out that there wasn’t a sign on the door and he had in fact checked with a member of staff and been told it was ok to bring the dogs in, to which she responded he’d come in the wrong door and continued to harangue him as he left. I’m 5 months pregnant and we had our 11 month baby old baby with us, we were just a family looking to go for breakfast, the level of aggression and rudeness was completely unwarranted and I found the experience quite upsetting. We will NEVER return here again, she’s a truly nasty piece of work!
Stopped off after walk along front for coffee had dog with us and knew this place was dog friendly. We hadn’t noticed the sign which stated that dogs couldn’t go in on a Sunday and was quite abruptly told this sternly as we opened door. As we waited for our drinks I watched the blonde waitress stuffing her mouth full of food and chewing it as she walked out orders. Another couple with dogs where then shouted at by another staff member because her dog was on her lap on the outside tables. I won’t be giving this place my money any more that’s for sure. Loads of reviews about staff rudeness on here that I have read and can totally believe after what I witnessed today.
