We went for a family lunch on Wednesday. The staff are always very obliging and cannot do enough to help. We had a baby with a buggy and a senior with a walker in the party and nothing was too much trouble. Very comfortable with their Covid rules, nicely spaced tables . As always their food is very good. Seafood linguine was excellent.. To be highly recommended
Stopped off on walk from Broadstairs to Margate. Great to have the ordering window to the terrace had a light lunch a pint. Really enjoyed it lovely location, thanks very much.
We visited last weekend for lunch and had a really lovely meal. The Covid safety measures were excellent. The staff were helpful and attentive and were very careful when serving the food and drinks. The Captain Digby is one of our favourites and we hope to return soon!
We visited Cliftonville Monday 14th September. We decided to have a few beers sitting outside at the Digby because the weather was so nice. There were quite a few spare tables both outside and inside . We then realised having asked a memberof staff that if you were seated outside you had to order food and drink from the serving hatch . I then noticed a queue of about 20 people at this hatch. I said to another staff member we only want a couple of pints and was told we had to queue at the hatch where people were mainly ordering food. There was one girl serving at the hatch and she had to go and get any drinks that were ordered from the bar. As a consequence I waited in the queue about 20 minutes before finally ordering 3 beers. I have visited quite a few bars since Covid procedures were introduced but this was a complete farce what they were doing here. Inside was empty and there was nobody at the bar. The Digby is maybe a restaurant but it cannot be called a bar. In the time we had to queue we could have had another 2 rounds and there is no way after drinking your first pint would anyone queue another 20 minutes to get a second round. So inour group that 3 beers were consumed that could have been 9. The Digby has plenty of space and in our opinion whoever decided on the procedure could have done a lot better toimprove their takings. We were not the only ones saying it was a joke and one member of staff even sid it was ridiculous that theonly place selling drinks was the hatch. we have been recommended to visit this place many times but each time we have visited there has been an issue over shortages of staff or the way things are being run. Or does everyone only go to the Digby to eat.On the day in question as there was only one person taking orders for both food and drink and having to bring the drink to the hatch herself everyone must have been waiting ages forboth food and drink.
Booked table to celebrate anniversary. Great decision as food and service were excellent. It was not the reason for booking but discovered when we arrived that the eat out to eat out discount scheme was still being applied for food purchased so also excellent value-even without this would still have been excellent value.
