Hobo's Bbq Tavern - Temecula
Hobo's Bbq Tavern
Description
While this restaurant delights many with an array of flavorful dishes, the experience can be hit-or-miss. Highlights include superb stuffed jalapeños and generously portioned sandwiches, but some dishes, like the tri-tip and pulled pork, disappointed with toughness and blandness. Service received high praise, particularly from attentive staff like Justin, enhancing the overall atmosphere, which is also well-regarded. Though the BBQ sauces received compliments, the absence of essential items in orders and a few higher prices were notable concerns. Overall, diners may find gems amid average fare, leaving potential for improvement under the new ownership.

We visited the restaurant on a Saturday evening, only to find that it was essentially a one-person operation. The waiter was also acting as the host, chef, and busboy. Unfortunately, the first five items we attempted to order were unavailable. Ultimately, I settled on my sixth choice, chili spaghetti, which turned out to be inedible. There was no warning from the waiter or indication on the menu that it would be spicy. After taking just two bites, I discovered it was far too hot for my liking. The waiter later admitted he should have advised us, as the dish contained four different types of hot peppers. He expressed regret, especially since he had removed the charge for the spaghetti and offered an additional 15% discount due to the lack of available items. While the coleslaw was good and the chocolate bundt cake was enjoyable, the overall experience left much to be desired. This place really needs improvement before Guy Fieri features it again. Save your time and money; visit the RibShack or Firehouse in Fallbrook for better service and BBQ.
A must-visit! The food is served in generous portions and is full of flavor, and the staff is incredibly attentive. We left feeling satisfied and as if we had made new friends. It was a wonderful experience.
I ordered the BBQ lasagna and a quarter pound of burnt ends. I noticed that brisket wasn’t on the menu, and the staff member informed me they had removed it because they couldn’t keep it moist. Not a great sign for a BBQ restaurant. When my food arrived, they brought me ribs instead of the burnt ends, so I had to wait even longer. Apparently, the original owner sold the restaurant a few months ago, and the new owners plan to add “Cantina” to the name while keeping most of the menu. Best of luck to them.
The meat was a bit tough. I ordered the famous sandwich that Guy tried, but I have to say I wasn't particularly impressed. On the other hand, the sweet potato fries were fantastic, and our waitress was a joy.
