It was strange that we had to go to the counter to order drinks instead of having them brought to our table. To make matters worse, our half-finished charcuterie board was taken away because the staff thought we had already left, despite our bags still being there. Instead of coming over to apologize, we had to inquire about what happened. A different staff member came over, and instead of taking responsibility, she tried to blame the new employee, saying he had only just started working there. This approach not only reflected poorly on her, but it also raised questions about the restaurant's training practices. Finally, she did offer to bring us something else, as they had run out of the same charcuterie board. Unfortunately, her attitude was off-putting; rather than apologizing, she simply said, "Okay!" Overall, it was a disappointing experience in terms of food service.
When our server came by again, we asked if she could bring some birthday cake for the birthday girl since her meal was missing. She was more than happy to oblige. The cake arrived, and we sang "Happy Birthday," which made for a lovely celebration. When it came time to settle the bill, our server kindly removed the cost of the meal that hadn't been served, but there was still no explanation for the oversight. When I mentioned the cake, she added its charge to our bill, which surprised me a bit. Nonetheless, we had a great time, and Jasmine, our server, was very pleasant to work with. It was just an interesting approach to service. Overall, we really enjoyed our experience!
This winery is truly stunning, offering a breathtaking view! The “steak and blue” was incredibly delicious. We also savored one of their newest wines, Project P.
My husband and I have visited this winery and restaurant now three times, twice most recently with friends who are members there. And while I really want to like Fazeli, our experience is always the same – a pricey bill for very average wines and mediocre food. Our first visit was on a slow weekday with only one other table occupied. We waited so long to even be acknowledged that we almost left before getting a chance to order! Our server seemed focused on the other table (perhaps members? , and was inattentive to us even after ordering wines and food. She simply delivered the order to our table with no follow-up, and gave us the bill. When with friends who were members on the two subsequent visits, service was better. In general, I find the wines to be very overpriced for the quality. While they sell several red wine mini half-bottles (375ml or two-6 oz glasses for $24, full bottles of red start at $55, and the whites are $30+. If you like sweet wines, which I do not, this is the place for you – they have quite a few. I don’t believe they offer any sparkling wines. We’ve also been consistently disappointed with Baba Joon’s food. The beef on the steak blue flatbread was very dry and chewy, and on our most recent visit, I was only able to detect a few tiny bits of chicken in a fairly flavorless chicken ciabatta club which was mostly comprised of arugula and parsley with some undercooked bacon to boot. So as a Temecula local, I’m sorry to say that Fazeli’s is not a favorite of ours.
