My experience at this restaurant yesterday was excellent. The food was delicious, especially the breakfast that had a wide variety of options to choose from. The rooms were very clean and well-maintained for anyone looking to stay overnight. The staff was also very friendly and welcoming. I will definitely be returning in the future. View all feedback.
I had such a pleasant surprise during my stay at this restaurant this weekend! I was expecting low standards due to the reasonable pricing, but I was delighted to find that my room was clean, tidy, and everything was in working order. The highlight of my stay was definitely the food. My dinner was delicious, perfectly cooked, and reasonably priced. The breakfast the next morning was one of the best Full English breakfasts I have ever had. The owner and staff were also very friendly. Overall, for the price, I don't think there is anything more one could ask for.
Upon our arrival, we were warmly greeted by a friendly lady behind the bar who arranged our room and escorted us upstairs. The room was spacious, clean, and brightly lit with amenities for making coffee and tea. The towels were pristine white, the bathroom was large, and impeccably clean. After changing, we returned to the bar where we met the welcoming landlady. Since it was Bank Holiday Monday and no food was being served except for guests, we decided to order steak. On the menu, there was a Devon blue cheese which I had never tried before. The landlady kindly offered a taste of the cheese which was delicious. I asked if it was possible to have a blue cheese sauce with my steak, and she happily obliged. We enjoyed another drink before our meal arrived, which we ate inside. The breakfast the next morning was also well-cooked and enjoyable. It was a pleasant stay before we continued on to Cornwall. We engaged in conversation with some locals who provided us with tips on places to visit.

Place looks nicely cared for on the outside. Booked for dinner last Saturday. A joke. Around 40/50 seats in restaurant one table occupied by 4. Menu bland and 30 years out of date. Of 4 starters, only one was interesting but 'didn 't have '. 'Specials ' menu featured omelette chips! Of 5 red wines on list, only 2 were available. Then offered a ½ bottle of the one I wanted when it came it was 2 glasses from an unseen bottle of indeterminate age! Refused after smelling. Cancelled main course order and left after (very plain) pate toast starter. Lad in restaurant apologetic but clearly out of depth. When I raised complaints with licensee, was told that she knew there was 'something about the wine ' but when I pursued complaint was met with abuse. Charged full price for starters despite appalling service. Unbelieveably incompetent inadequate for a 'so called ' service industry outlet. Despite being local, we will NEVER darken their doors again. If you are ever in this part of Devon, I suggest you don 't either. Ignore one star rating the site won 't allow me to leave blank and I can 't award negatives! This place is worse than 'terrible '.
